We hate to turn any customers away but unfortunately we are no longer able to accommodate walk ins or services that do not have a scheduled appointment. All of our bath and haircut services include nail filing with the dremel, ear plucking and cleaning, external gland expression, paw pad and sanitary shave, and a 15 minute brush out. This post is to illustrate the diversity in doodles. These are two males in the exact same haircut. The same process and lengths and tools were used on both of these handsome pups. The look is completely different because of the hair color quality and texture. If you bring pictures of a haircut you like on a dog that is a different breed or even your pet as a puppy, the result isn’t always going to look like your picture because of hair texture and quality. Just because you look up a Pinterest photo of doodle grooming doesn’t mean we can make it look like the picture. We can usually give you a version of the same cut, but this illustrates how different the same exact cut can look on the same breed.

Charley would like to thank everyone for their patience this week! As many of you know this week and the week before thanksgiving are our busiest weeks of the year. We would like to thank everyone for their generous tips, heartfelt cards and gifts and most of all your patience. Things are taking longer due to the extra high volume of pets and not being rushed or screamed at for taking too long has been a first this year and it means so much more than you can imagine. Thank you everyone for your kindness and understanding that we’re doing our best to keep our heads above water this week!

I hate to do this and I understand we will lose some clients in the process but in an industry with ever increasing demand and a very steep increase in the cost of doing business we will be enacting a price increase across the board in 2024. Special Reminders Ladies and Gentlemen!!!! Make sure to get in during the month of December before the price increase takes effect! Large breeds, giant doodles, senior discounts, and rescue discounts will see an increase across the board. We will also no longer provide special shampoo at no cost. Double coated dogs that require de-shed treatments, detangling baths for pets that are mildly matted and dont want a full shave, pets with skin issues requiring a medicated shampoo, dogs found to have active fleas and ticks requiring a flea and tick shampoo, and pets that are excessively dirty and require a deep cleansing shampoo will be charged accordingly. These shampoos cost us significantly more than the basic shampoo and conditioner we use on every pet so if your pet requires it, you will be charged for it. I hate to go up on my prices and have not done so in the last 3 years we’ve been open but due to the increase in demand and the significant increase in the cost of operating, we have to be able to afford the additional staff and supplies to continue providing the exceptional quality and service we are known for at Rustic Retreat Pet Spa.

We hope everyone had an awesome long weekend! We have some exciting announcements to come but want to make sure everyone is aware of our holiday booking policies.
No we are not requiring deposits, yes we are booking for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We will be open monday-saturday the week before Christmas and the week before Thanksgiving.
WE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING ANY NEW CLIENTS OR CLIENTS THAT ARE NOT ON A MAXIMUM 8 WEEK SCHEDULE!!!!!!!!!! During the holidays we are at maximum capacity and extra high volume with shoppers in and out all day. Pets that have not experienced our environment, our process, and our groomers should not come during the busiest time of year. It can be traumatic to only have your pet groomed during the holidays so start bringing them now so we can get them used to us!
Mr. Bananas came to visit our salon and our home this week. He was introduced to his long lost monkey family, rode a dog the size of a horse, pet a dragon, and made friends with A LOT of fish. He also learned how to play Xbox really well. Thank you for letting our family have such a fun time with Bananas!

Hello Rustic Retreat Family! As many of you have already seen and experienced we have grown and changed a lot these past two years. Part of being a new small business is figuring out the best course of action when it comes to operatipnal policies and procedures. In the coming weeks we will be rolling out our customer appreciation and new client welcome gifts! Everyone will recieve a hard copy of our updated policies, a careguide for your pets specific hair type, a rustic retreat slip lead to bring your pets to and from appointments, and a rustic retreat bandana to help us promote the business. We will also throw in plenty of shop favorite goodies and freebies!
Some of the biggest changes outside of expanding the back of the house is that the main line 678-894-5523 has been ported to a landline and will no longer recieve text messages. We have updated our booking software to be capable of receiving texts and responses to your confirmation messages. If you cannot call please text the number you recieve our confirmation messages from. We do not recieve calls when we are not open. Best practice is to call Tuesday-Friday between 8:30am and 3pm. We try to return missed calls from outside business hours but sometimes they can slip through the cracks and get overlooked.
Our second biggest change is payment. We are a cash, venmo, personal check, and zelle preferred business. We have switched back to our original software so the card fees are now 3.1% instead of 3.5%. There is a card processing fee charged to anyone who wishes to use their card. We have to wait anywhere between 1-3 days to recieve cc payment so the fee is to be paid by the client for the convenience of not paying for the groom at the time of service. All other processing fees for venmo and zelle are absorbed by our company because we recieve the payment same day.
We are trying to get our small business to a point of consistency throughout. While our level of care, quality, and products we use have never changed our policies are somewhat dated and with inflation we have to ensure we are getting the most out of all of our services and utilities to keep our prices the same for our customers.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind our amazing clients that we will be having client appreciation week the first week of June with LOADS of freebies and giveaways so please make sure you have an appointment to see us that week! I would also like to take this time to inform ALL existing and prospective clients that we will be updating our policies that week so please make aure to visit our website to view them. For over a year now you have been sent multiple text messages before your appointments instructing you to check our policies and procedures. Ignorance of our policies will no longer be tolerated and exceptions to the rules will no longer be made for anyone! We love all of our clients and are always accepting new but we no longer have room for those who do not wish to follow our policies. It's too stressful for our team and the pets in our care.
HEY EVERYONE!
As we move into the summer months (shavedown season) we want to remind everyone that our availability books up quickly. We no longer have same week availability so if you're not on a recurring schedule please make sure your summer appointments are booked!
Due to an abundance of moving appointments around, if you are not on a recurring schedule we will now be charging a $12 fee to move your previously booked appointments. It overwhelms our software and costs us double to send additional confirmation, reminder, and cancelation text messages. We can adjust the time of your appointment with no penalty but to move days it costs $12.
We do not provide as needed doodle grooming. If you own a doodle breed you are required to bring them every 5 weeks or we will no longer accept them as clients. The only exceptions to this rule are unfurnished doodles and doodles under 15 lbs. We no longer provide matted shavedowns on any doodle breeds.
We are well rested, passed our annual inspection, and ready to be back at work! Bri will be returning missed calls and messages from this past week and we are available to take calls until 3pm today! We have availability for appointments this week!

Excuse the exhaustion in my voice but we’re allllllmost done with paint.
It’s going to be a big change in the new shop but the biggest change is our ability to be more flexible with drop off and pick up times. We can take doodles and large dogs no later than 10:30am. We will be on a 2-4 hour turnaround as opposed to a 6-8 hour turnaround. We are asking that you bring a copy of your vet records just for our files. We are still NOT requiring (just strongly recommending) that all groom dogs be up to date on vaccines AND flea and tick prevention. To attend daycare your pets must be up to date on ALL vaccines, be spayed or neutered, and actively be on a flea and tick preventative. 🫶🏼it’s better for us to get all your records from the vet into our system as well as new intake paperwork now in case you ever want to board with us in the future.
First Peak at our new place! Sadly we will be pretty strict about pet parents walking through our gated off areas at the new shop. With daycare and grooming running simultaneously in the back we won’t be permitting anyone past the front retail/check in area without a scheduled tour! I’ll make more videos to show where all our kennels and doggy daycare will go as well as a property and house history video as it is a historical home in the area! We can’t wait to hopefully be open September 1 and will be updating our policies and procedures in the coming weeks so everyone is confident in how to drop off and pick up! We will DEFINITELY be holding an open house for our existing and potential clients to view and your the new space as soon as it is ready so stay posted!

As sad as I am to leave our current location, it is for the best. We will be able to relax on some of our policies and be open more often and for longer hours. We will still not be accepting matted cats, doodles, and puppies. We will be cracking down on TARDINESS!!!!!!! I know it is hard to believe but we have clients that regularly show up 15minutes to 1.5HOURS LATE! Bri is handling all calls and booking so there is NO EXCUSES or any reason to show up late to your appointment. I understand there is traffic and when it comes closer to time for Hwy 20 construction, our new hours should allow you to drop off before road work even starts for the day. There will be open access to our business at all times. “Early is great but we can’t do late” when you are late the time compounds. It isn’t just twenty minutes. Your twenty minutes makes the next dog 40 minutes late and the dog after that 80 minutes late. It is extremely inconsiderate and has been accommodated to this point. It will not be accommodated at the new location. 15 minutes is the most we will allow even if you show up 16 minutes late you will be turned away. When coordinating check ins with adding daycare to our services, we can not accept late grooming appointments.

After over a decade Bri will be stepping back into the world of competition! This is the first step in many that will transition Rustic Retreat Pet Spa from being primarily haircuts by Bri to haircuts by all of our extremely well trained and qualified groomers that have been training with Bri for years. Bri’s clients that are strictly Bri clients (no one else can touch them or you simply prefer no one else grooms them) will of course stay on her book for life and all other pets that do not specifically request Bri will still be groomed under her watchful eye. This will mean that if you want an appointment with Bri and haven’t already made the request clear, we need to hear from you asap as she will be booked farther out for longer. We are looking forward to Bri bringing home ribbons this year and putting Rustic Retreat Pet Spa on the global grooming map! We have so many exciting things to come!
