Do you want a better relationship with your dog? Did you just get a new puppy or rescue dog from the shelter, and you want to enroll them in training classes? Hello, I’m Matthew Lamarand

I’ve spent the past 10 years learning a lot about canine psychology and dog training during my time as a military canine handler, and I’m still learning from each and every dog and owner that I work with. Whether

you want your dog to sniff out IEDs, or come when called, I’ve learned that all behaviors start with the same thing: engagement and building a bond with your dog. If your dog is focused on you, they’ll do what you ask them to. Here are a few issues that we’ve helped owners to solve:

Come reliably when called
Sit to greet guests at the door
Walk on a loose leash
Be calm when handled
Take food nicely from your hand
Sit and lie down from a distance
Be calm when playing with children
Follow commands when playing

How is it December already?! I thought today was the perfect day to showcase Mr. Arlo in Hobby Lobby and of course he is near the Christmas decor. For a 4 month old puppy his focus is solid, and he did so well!

Even dog trainers need to pick up a few things now and then! 🐾

Here’s Matthew caught on an outing, smiling his way through the line at Premier Pet Supply in Canton. Behind that grin is a guy who’s helped countless pups and their owners create stronger, happier bonds. Whether it’s training tools or treats, every trip here is a reminder that the right resources—and a little patience—go a long way in training success.

Every program and every lesson is put together thoughtfully with our dogs and parents in mind. We couldn't do what we do (build stronger bonds, helps people enjoy more time with their dogs, and hopefully make life that much easier) without our amazing clients.

Here's a little note we received from Finn's parent's on his last day of training;

'Thank you so much for training Finn (and us)! We have all learned a lot. Finn is so much better behaved 🙂 We appreciate all the time, effort, and thoughtfulness you put into your program. It is so nice to have the weekly recap videos in case we need a refresher. We will definitely recommend Dogology! ❤️ -Pete & Helen

Training success goes beyond the backyard! Meet Barnabus, showing off his skills at Premier Pet Supply in Canton, MI. Practicing commands in different environments—like pet stores—ensures your dog listens anywhere. Consistency with distance, duration, and distractions is key to solid obedience. Training is a lifestyle, not just a living room lesson! 💪🐶

Why does your dog only listen at home? 🐾

It might be due to lack of proper socialization. Exposing your pup to new sights, sounds, and smells builds confidence and adaptability. Remember, socialization isn't just about other dogs; it's about the whole world!

This pup has a very special job, he is in training to be a therapy dog for the director of a funeral home for grieving families. We went to Ikea for exposure to different types of people and Arlo even took his first escalator ride! We made sure to praise him well as he was a little nervous about it at first.

🇺🇸 Veterans Day Reflection: Our Story 🇺🇸

Today, as we honor the men and women who have served our country, we wanted to take a moment to share a piece of our story. These photos were taken just before we graduated basic training in the Air Force, a pivotal chapter in both of our lives. Little did we know then that those experiences would not only shape us as individuals but also lay the foundation for the life and business we’ve built together.

Our time in the military taught us discipline, resilience, and the importance of trust—values we carry into everything we do at Dogology University. Every dog we train, every family we serve, and every connection we make is grounded in the principles we learned while serving our country.

To our fellow veterans: thank you for your service, sacrifice, and dedication. We know the weight of your commitment, and we honor you today and every day.

To our clients: thank you for trusting us with your beloved companions. It’s a privilege to serve our community and to bring the same integrity and dedication to our work with you.

Happy Veterans Day to all who have served, are serving, and to the families who stand beside them.

With gratitude,

Matthew & Ashaleena
