I can’t say how many times I’ve heard “But my cat never leaves my yard and I have a 6 foot wall”. Well, your cat doesn’t need to leave your yard to be in danger. Coyotes can get over those 6 foot walls. Not to mention Hawks, Owls, Bobcats, and yes even Mountain Lions. Your small pets are considered a meal for all those predators. Who can blame them? Urban sprawl has taken over their territory and killed off their prey.
Keep your cats indoors 100% of the time. And always supervise your small dogs.

Thai House Cat Testimonial from an actual owner:

If you are like most of us you are interested in a Khao Manee which means you are expecting a white cat. The white color is a masking gene. What this means is the cat could be any color but the masking gene is making the cat white instead. What this also means is that there is a chance a kitten is born without this white masking gene and can be born nearly any other color. Orange and Tortie cats are called Thai House Cats.

I know when you are looking for a white Khao Manee you are not looking for a cat of any other color. But as an owner of both white Khao Manees and a very loving Thai House Cat I can assure you that a Thai House Cat carries all the traits that make Khao Manees such great cats except for the white color.

No one can speak for the future personality of any cat let alone one they never seen, so let me tell you about mine. I have three littermates. Two Khao Manees one of which who was born deaf. I also have one orange Thai House Cat that is a littermate of the two Khao Manees. His name is Narangi. Narangi is my buddy. Of the three he is the most affectionate. He is a shy kitty but he is extremely loving. More so than the two Khao Manees. Don’t get me wrong, I love them all but I often think that if I limited myself to a white Khao Manee and refused my beautiful orange Thai House Cat I would have missed one of the best most loving cats I have.

If you are reading this I assume you have the opportunity to choose a Thai House Cat. I just wanted to tell you my story and ask you not to limit yourself just because an expected Khao Manee was born a different color. Please consider giving him/her/them a permanent home because they just might be the sweetest ones in the bunch and I don’t wish you to miss a wonderful kitty simply because he or she was not born white.

May whatever kitty you choose bring you love and happiness for many years to come.
