Join us for our 5th Anniversary Celebration at the Cape Coral Animal Shelter from Thursday, March 20th, through Sunday, March 23rd and take part in our “Give $5, Get a Paw Print” fundraiser! 🐾

With every $5 donation, you’ll get to add a paw print—featuring an animal’s name of your choice—to our Wall of Support at the shelter. These names will then be used to help name future shelter residents!

"I adopted a Siamese kitten named Quartz from you a couple of months ago and wanted to give you all an update. She had her challenges for sure when we first got her and had a very nasty upper respiratory infection but after working with her vet I am thrilled to tell you guys she is now thriving and healthy! Even better news is her vet is almost certain she will outgrow this so is not chronic at all!

She has developed her what I call “big girl face“, she has grown so fast! We have renamed her Lucy as we think it’s fitting. We entered her into a competition for a calendar and were stunned she was chosen as April, so she is a true beauty queen! Proceeds from this help shelters across the USA .

She has a house full of toys and I think is really relishing not having to share with anyone. We are currently harness training her to go for car rides and we love her to pieces.

Thank you so much for choosing us to adopt her. We promised you she would have a wonderful life and I’m so happy to say today she is antibiotic free, medicine free, has bright eyes, and you can’t hear her breathe hard anymore. She truly has transformed and I am so proud of her."

“ I adopted Charlemagne (now referred to as Charlie) a few months back now and just wanted to update yall with how she’s doing! She’s gotten 100 times better then when I first got her. She is still skittish at times but nothing like she was when I first adopted her.

I couldn’t have gotten a more well behaved dog than her though, she’s incredibly well house trained and I’ve only heard her bark two times ever. I also got a doggy dna test for Christmas and turns out she’s not a corgi at all. I’ll attach some photos for yall to see!”

The Power of Partnership: Saving Lives Together!

What an incredible feeling when great shelter and rescue partners come together for a common mission! Yesterday, through the collaborative efforts of Redland Dog Sanctuary and Cape Coral Animal Shelter, eight precious lives were saved from Dade County’s overwhelming pet overpopulation crisis. Adding to this incredible effort, Paws Crossed Inc. stepped up to take in two more deserving dogs.

This is what teamwork looks like—rescues, shelters, and compassionate adopters all working together to create fresh starts for these animals. Unity is our greatest strength, and together, we’re transforming lives.

A huge thank you to Wagsterz for their reliable and affordable transportation services, and CCAS volunteer Alan Marshall for making these lifesaving moves possible.

Every life saved is a victory. Let’s keep working together to make a difference!

Thinking About Bringing a Found Kitten Into Your Home? Read This First! 🐱💛

Finding a kitten can be exciting, but before you scoop them up and take them home, here are some important steps to take:

1️⃣ Check for a Mom – If the kitten is alone, observe from a distance for a few hours. Mom may be nearby and taking care of them. If the kitten is clean, well-fed, and quiet, they are likely being cared for.

2️⃣ Assess the Kitten’s Condition – If the kitten looks sick, injured, or in danger (severe weather, predators, busy roads), they may need immediate help. Contact a local animal shelter or rescue for guidance.

3️⃣ Determine Their Age – Young kittens (under 8 weeks) need special care, including bottle feeding if mom isn’t around. If you’re unsure of their age, consult a vet or rescue.

4️⃣ Look for Owners – Check lost pet pages, post in local groups, and see if anyone is missing a kitten. Sometimes, they belong to a neighbor’s outdoor cat.

5️⃣ Contact a Shelter or Rescue – If you can’t care for the kitten long-term, reach out to a shelter or rescue for help with placement.

6️⃣ Vet Check First! – Before introducing the kitten to your pets, take them to a vet for a health check, vaccinations, and parasite treatment.

7️⃣ Prepare for Commitment – Kittens need time, patience, and care! If you decide to keep them, be ready for vet visits, socialization, and proper nutrition.
