💥 Training Tip Tuesday 💥
🐶 Dog Nose Work 🐶
Did you know there are a ton of different forms of nose work for dogs? Did you know that dogs have way better noses than we do, but they are not born with the knowledge to use them.
In fact! Only 10 minutes of nose work is the equivalent of an approximate 30 minute walk!
Here are a few different types of Nose Work:
1️⃣ Medical Detection - Cancer, Diabetes, Seizure, Food Alergy and many more.
2️⃣ Law Enforcement & Military - drugs, explosives, missing people, and more.
3️⃣ Hunting - Finding the shot animal or hunting and killing rats or other vermin.
4️⃣ Competition - Schutzhund, AKC Competitions, and more.
5️⃣ Rescue - Gas leaks, Natural Disaster, Bed Bugs and more.
Dogs being trained to use their nose can be a great job, exercise, and mental stimulation for your pup! Here are some at home games you can play:
✅️ Find It - hiding a treat in a towel, under objects, or in the yard and telling your pup to find it.
✅️ Hide and Seek - Hide a treat or toy outside of your dogs presence and tell them to find it.
✅️ Cup Game - Take a treat and place it under a cup, move the cups around and have the dog pick which cup. Using a muffin tin and cover works as well.
