At K-9 Outcast, we strive to build a stronger bond between trainer and dog. We teach basic and advanced obedience that couples with socialization.

We are dedicated dog trainers who will ensure your dog have the tools needed to behave in public. We also offer Bite work (protection) and Nose work (tracking and detection).

We have upgraded our Certifications! If anyone would like to test for a level, just let us know at the beginning of class. There is no requirement for number of classes you need in order to test. If your dog can do the commands, they get the cert.

Teaching our pups to not be afraid of uneven ground. We practice so much obedience, but what's the use if your dog isn't confident enough to listen in all situations? We are building some very well-rounded pups who will succeed through all obstacles!

This past weekend we worked on distractions. We focused on our dogs not picking up food from the ground unless released. The reason we don't want our dogs to pick up random food, is because we don't know if it could be harmful. So many people are poisoning food and tossing it on the ground or throwing chicken bones that can splinter. We want to ensure all our dogs can pay attention and continue listening to commands while ignoring the temptation of food.

Most people don't ever think about dogs choking. The unfortunate truth, it's more common than you think!

Dogs can choke from so many different things, running with a stick or toy, getting into household items, or even eating too fast. It is very important to know the signs and how to help your pup!

The 2025 Training Year is going to be awesome! We have so many new training techniques and classes available.

The first weekend of 2025 we worked mostly on gaining focus out of our dogs. We did a lot of heeling exercised in short distance and focused on the dogs positioning. Our seated commands worked on getting the pups in proper position and holding a position.

Next weekend we are going to be working mostly on motion and maintaining position while rewarding. We are also going to be focused on working through distractions!

1. We want to offer more classes and privates for everyone
2. We want to upgrade our training equipment to better help the dogs learn their techniques
3. We want to aid in the adoption of abused, reactive, and neglected dogs as well as work with retired or injured working line dogs.

We absolutely love working with German Shepherd and Belgian Malinois pups! We primarily work on focus based training that can allow the handler to comfortably bring their dog in any public setting. If anyone needs help with their pups, send us a message! We offer group classes, private lessons, and at home lessons. We do work with aggressive dogs! Let us know what your goals are, we would love to help you out!

We have revamped our curriculum. Instead of requiring a strict training schedule, we just have requirements to level up. Any of our dog teams can try their skills at any time during class. The only requirement we need is to not be luring the dog into a position or during a motion. In order to have a fully trained dog, who knows the command, they do not need to be lured. A trained dog who is ready to be outside in public will follow a command and then be rewarded.

We are back to Dog Training tomorrow!
For anyone who is afraid to take their dogs in public, let their dog off leash, or explore the world with their dog, you can do it! We don't train for fancy competitions, we train to get the most out of life with our dogs. We train to give our dog the best life they can possibly have. This is Ace, and he has just seen the highest mountain point in Alabama, eaten steak from the owner of Marshals, hung out on a Military Base in Missouri and so much more.

Here at K9 Ourcast we support the use of short leads when taking our dogs outside and here's why!
1. Increased Control: Short leashes allow quicker response time in crowded areas, aggressive dogs, or possible hazardous situations.
2. Training Benefits: Short leads allow for quicker correction of bad behavior. They are also ideal for focus and attention management.
3. Ease of Use: Short leases avoid tangling when training. They also avoid a dog getting tied up and possibly injured when in public.
4. Easy Transition: Going from a short leads to off-leash training is far easier than a long leash.

We know not everyone is in here, but we love absolutely all of our clients!

Spent some time working on our Auto-Sit! Every team we had this weekend successfully escaped getting struck by an imaginary car. We practice an Auto-Sit for situations where we need to stop on short notice. If our dog is with us, and we stop, we want the dog to stop.

This beautiful baby is ready for the week! He was sooo excited for his first training session and we are so excited to see him again this weekend!!

The start of learning how to balance, focus and conquer fears. Amazing beginning of adding more agility to training!

Something was up with all the dogs this past weekend. Enjoy some amazing fails!

Started teaching our pups how to heel backwards! It is important to note: When teaching anything new, take it slow, don't get frustrated, and have fun! Heeling backwards has the same command as heeling forward. Heel is a position, so they should stay in a heel regardless of forward, backwards or sideways walking.

We train our dogs while sitting? Why would we do that? Here's why! 1. Dogs are primarily visual, we don't want to have to stand, every time we tell our dog to do something. 2. We take pur dogs out in public. Our dogs know how to act at food establishments. 3. A very great bonding experience, while doing new and different things with our dogs. 4. The extraordinary focus we gain while working our dogs from a chair.

Why do we teach an AutoSit? Here are some main reasons! 1. If you are about to cross the street and you stop, your dog will not continue and risk being hut by a car. 2. Teaches the dog to walk with you, rather than in front of you or behind you. 3. Enhances the amount of focus the dog needs to have on the handler, in order to recognize the handler has stopped.

We had a private yesterday who is working towards her AKC certification test. We have only been working with her team for 2 weeks. The amount of work this team puts in is outstanding. We are so pleased to have the privilege to work with such an amazing team. We cannot wait to see them succeed in their AKC testing. If anyone else is looking to get into any form of competition with their dog, we are full AKC certified!
