What a stunning gathering of wading birds at Rotary Park today! Hundreds of birds gathered to fish in the shallow water of this pond. We counted about 60 white pelicans, 27 tricolored herons, 28 great egrets, 4 roseate spoon bills. Snowy egret, green herons, white ibis, one glossy ibis and greater yellow legs were observed. As area ponds dry up during the dry season, fish concentrate in the remaining shallow ponds, making them ideal feeding for the birds. The Garden Club of Cape Coral will host its largest gardening event on Saturday, March 8th, at Rotary Park from 9 AM to 3 PM. Admission is free. The event will feature over 500 plants and 35 vendors selling a variety of species, including palms, fruit trees, and rare plants. Food trucks and live music will also be present. Guests are encouraged to bring their own carts, as only a limited number will be available. Don't miss out!

The Environmental Center will be closed on Monday, February 17, in observance of Presidents Day. The Butterfly House will continue to provide tours beginning at 10:30 AM.

🇺🇸 City Hall will be closed Monday, February 17, in observance of Presidents Day. City offices will reopen Tuesday, February 18, for regular operating hours.

Trash collection will not be affected.

Parks & Recreation:

Last night, we were treated to a stunning sunset during the Full Moon Paddle. Be sure to register early for our next Full Moon Paddle, scheduled for Friday, March 14th, from 7 to 9 PM or Saturday, April 12, from 7:30 to 9:30 PM.
