🐾 Happy Thanksgiving from Cape Coral Pet Vet! 🐾

Thanksgiving is a time to cherish with family and friends—and of course, our beloved pets! While we want them to join the celebration, it’s essential to keep their health in mind. Here’s our annual guide to Thanksgiving Do’s and Don’ts for your furry family members:

🚫 Don’ts: Foods to Avoid

1. Turkey Bones & Skin – Bones can splinter, and skin is too fatty, risking pancreatitis.
2. Onions, Garlic, Nutmeg & Sage – Toxic to pets.
3. Alcohol, Grapes, Chocolate, Coffee – Dangerous for their health.
4. Cheesy or Fatty Foods – (e.g., sausage, gravy, cheese dishes). Too much fat can lead to pancreatitis.
5. Green Bean Casserole – Often contains harmful ingredients like onion or creamy sauces.

💡 Tip: High-fat foods are particularly risky, so stay cautious!

✔️ Do’s: Safe in Small Portions

1. Turkey Meat – Plain, no skin or bones.
2. Sweet Potatoes – Unseasoned and plain.
3. Mashed Potatoes – Without butter, cheese, or gravy.
4. Canned Pumpkin – Pure, unsweetened, and unspiced.
5. Corn – Off the cob only.
6. Steamed Green Beans – Plain and simple.

Let’s keep our pets happy and healthy while enjoying the holiday! If you have any questions, we’re here to help. 🦃🐕🐈
