I have been rescuing and rehoming pit bulls and similar breeds since 2005, when I took in my first pit bull and "spokesdog", Lola. The purpose of this group is to bring together fellow supporters, owners and advocates of misunderstood breeds to create a broad support system. We can provide a wealth of information, education and resources while we also continuously work to rescue, rehab and rehome
dogs as well. The Pit Mix is NOT a non profit (YET!) and we are NOT a shelter. This started with one woman who simply refused to settle for helping just one when there are so many more in distress and in need. The breed is horribly misused, mistreated and misunderstood. I am on a lifelong mission to change the course of the pit bull destiny by proving their worth and value to families as well as society. The Pit Mix has helped place nearly 70 dogs since its establishment. Several of our dogs have also become various service pets, allowing us to not only find these dogs a home, but a job and purpose which this breed so desperately craves. In the next several years, The Pit Mix intends to grow and expand, with the hopes of increasing our opportunities to place bully breeds in service positions to help put them in the public eye in a positive way.
