Everyone, meet Misty! Misty is a 9 year old chihuahua mix, who is in need of a loving home. Misty’s current owner is unfortunately no longer in the financial position to be able to give Misty everything she needs, so she is making the difficult decision to find Misty an owner who is able to❤️
Misty is current in perfect health and up to date on her annual exam and vaccines. Misty has been receiving veterinary care from Dr. Mohr for majority of her life, so we are very familiar with her here! Misty also does well with other pets and young children. Please reach out to us if you’re interested!

Everyone, meet Kitka🤩
Kitka is a 13 year old DSH spayed female, who comes from the Santa Cruz County Shelter. She is currently being fostered by two amazing people who are about to move to Spain to further their education, and cannot bring her with them.
Kitka (also goes by Meow Meow, and tons of other fun nicknames) loves to sleep (same girl) and eat (also same) and loves her butt scratches (ehh😅).
By September 1st, Kitka will have to be back at the shelter.
Please feel free to reach out if you would like to help give an old kitty a good rest of her life! Kitka has no pre-diagnoses, and is a great companion.
Send us a DM or call us at 831-222-5520 if you’re interested in helping Kitka.

Wildtracks is a non-profit Manatee & Primate Rehabilitation Center in Belize. Bob (2nd picture) is on his way over there today to volunteer and help out these amazing creatures! We were able to provide Bob with some donated medications to help the animals in need over there. Bob, along with the Director of the organization, Paul Walker, and other volunteers will be able to use those medications to provide care to animals who otherwise may never receive any sort of help. If you’d like to learn more about Wildtracks, or become involved in their work, please visit www.wildtracksbelize.org

We had the two cutest kittens come in this week! 🐱

The adorable fluffy baby in the first photo is about 4 weeks old and doesn’t have a permanent name yet. The kitten was found in the woods in a hollow tree stump under an ivy bush while their new owner was on a hike! We got the kitten started on a dewormer and formula feedings, and they will be returning soon for vaccinations and feline leukemia testing 💜

The second spotted kitty is a handsome bengal cat named Ignatius. Bengal cats are known for their high energy and spunky attitude. Bengals are a cross breed between a domestic house cat and an Asian Leopard cat. They are very intelligent and are great at learning tricks (like dogs!). Ignatius enjoys spending time with his owners and playing with his mouse toy. 🐁 🐾

Thanks a bunch to our Royal Canin Representative Jason for bringing some fun in to the clinic last week!

Through interactive and educational games the staff learned how to better give client education on a healthy diet for their pets. We all gained some great knowledge on the diets that Royal Canin has to offer, what they’re used for, and how we can best recommend them to our clients and patients to better improve their health and lifestyle. ❤️

A couple weeks ago was our sweet girl Roxy’s first birthday PAWTY🐄🥳🎉 She is just too cute, and her cow themed birthday was something we had to share with you all! Roxy is owned by one of our Veterinary Assistants, Naomi, and her sister. Roxy is such a sweetie who loves to hang out at the clinic with us and keeps our patients company when they have to stay and hang out.

Send us some cute photos of your fur baby’s birthday for us to share!

We recently got the opportunity to partner with the amazing Dr. Emily Talkington, who dedicates some of her time each year to travel to Papua New Guinea, and donates her time and knowledge to help the pets there! We, along with our sister hospital , were able to donate medications and supplies for Dr. Talkington to bring with her to use to treat these pets.
This sweet boy pictured is Prince, a street dog who Dr. Talkington was able to help get treated for a skin infection and TVT.
The veterinary community is amazing and we are so lucky to have been able to be a part of this!

The date is almost here!!! Have you planned ahead for July 4th?! Just a few tips to help make sure your pet friends are safe and secure.

Keep all cats and dogs indoors on and around the 4th of July. You never know when the fireworks displays will begin or end – they often start a few days before and extend several days beyond. Keep all windows and doors securely closed.

1. Know your pets and make a plan based on their needs. Before making your plan, evaluate what your pet might need this weekend. Pet reactions to loud noises or crowds can vary greatly, and each animal has its own way of coping with anxiety and fear.

2. Make sure pets can be easily identified. Make sure you have a current picture of your pet on hand. Check that your pet's ID tags are secure and up to date with your pet's name and your contact information. If your pet is microchipped, make sure all the information is current.

3. Don't bring pets to fireworks displays. If your dog needs to go out, Kratt recommends a long walk before fireworks begin to wear your dog out and allow it to sleep or rest better in the evening.

4. Create a quiet, calm environment at home. One of the most important things you can do for your pet ahead of the weekend is to create a safe environment inside your home.

Please plan ahead, if you think your pet may need anti-anxiety medication or refills of any medication make sure to request a refill at least three days in advance. Our office will be closed starting on Saturday July 2nd at 5pm until Tuesday July 5th 8am.

During the holiday weekend if you have an emergency please go to Pacific Santa Cruz Veterinary Specialty and Emergency located at 2585 Soquel Drive.

Wishing you a fun and safe holiday weekend!
