When you want your dog to stop and not run into the road, chase an animal, or run into the wilderness (get lost), you want them to listen to you, no matter the circumstances. My main goal is to instruct the dogs and then their owners how to be confident and responsible partners while socializing with other people and their dogs, facing the danger of the roads, and especially becoming aware of the
challenges of the wilderness and becoming lost. However, this is gentle negativity to guide the dog and let them understand their boundaries. As an owner, you want your dog to have the satisfaction of playing, sniffing around, exploring, and being loved. However, along with some original gentle negativity, I combine their training with a TON of positivity. From my experience in fostering dogs from very unfortunate backgrounds, I realize how important trust is. The first day of training, therefore, is simply pampering your pet and showing it love. With training, it then involves a small snack to begin with, evolving into the dog being just as satisfied with a pat on the head, scratch behind their ear, and eventually a “good girl, good boy” making them the happiest. Searching in the mountains and woods for a lost dog is particularly difficult when the dog is unfamiliar with the environment. The dog becomes excited and then confused as it quickly travels far, losing its way. To eliminate that danger when training, my collars are GPS enabled and also have an AirTag. I purchased a high-quality drone to help find lost dogs. However, my goal in training is to prevent that from happening as I know it would be devastating. By having the dog positively tuned into not only his collar, but more importantly, its owner’s voice, this situation should be avoided. I am fully certified from the CSU Drone Flight School with the FAA as a drone pilot. I also foster and donate to C.A.R.E (Colorado Animal Rescue), support the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, Co., the PSS Wildlife Foundation, and Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers. And, of course, I have two rescue dogs, a rescue cat, and a flock of happy chickens (whom my dogs guard with their lives!)
As you can tell, I am an advocate for healthy, happy animals and I hope you trust me to create a healthy, happy, and responsible relationship between you and your pet.
