This adorable 12-week-old Cavapoo came in for her very first visit with us — and oh my goodness, she stole every heart in the building! 😍 Dr. Biggins even brought her to the back so the whole team could get some much-needed puppy love (we regret nothing 🥰).
Esme’s new family had lots of great questions about puppy care — from exercise, food, and training to her vaccination and deworming schedule. We love helping new puppy parents get started on the right paw 🐾 so their little ones grow up happy and healthy.
She’s already being such a good girl — sleeping through the night in her crate and getting used to her new home. We began her first set of vaccines and shared tons of tips on positive reinforcement and early training to set her up for success. 🌟
A little about her breed: Cavapoos are a mix between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle, known for their affectionate, playful personalities and adorable curly coats. They’re social, smart, and make wonderful family companions — just like Esme, this little reddish curl-covered nugget! 🧡🐩👑
We can’t wait to watch her grow and flourish in her new home — and of course, to see her again soon for more snuggles and updates! 🐾💖

This handsome 6-month-old tabby recently came in because his parents noticed he’d started coughing — and it was getting worse. They were also worried about a little lump that had popped up on his rear leg. Cats don’t typically get fatty lumps like dogs do, so it’s always a good idea to have any new bump checked out. 👩‍⚕️🐾
When Dr. Davis listened to Caspian’s lungs, everything sounded clear, but his parents had smartly brought a video of his coughing — super helpful since pets don’t always show their symptoms at the clinic! 🎥👏 (Pro tip: if your pet is doing something unusual at home — coughing, limping, or making a strange sound — a short video can be a huge help for the doctor!)
Caspian received an antibiotic and a small steroid injection to help calm things down, and we’re so happy to report that his cough has completely gone away! 🙌 The little lump on his leg is also getting smaller, and Dr. Davis believes it was simply from his rabies vaccine — great news all around. 💉✨
During his visit, Caspian was the sweetest boy — full of purrs, cuddles, and feather-toy enthusiasm. He even shared some snuggles with Imani during his exam (pictured below 🥰).
We’re thrilled that he’s back to his happy, playful self! 💕

🌟 Happy Practice Manager Week to our incredible Cheryl! 🌟
If you’ve ever wondered what makes Alpine Animal Hospital run so smoothly… the answer is Cheryl. 💪🐾
A practice manager wears many hats — from scheduling and accounting to client relations, budgeting, ordering supplies, managing staff, and ensuring every detail of the hospital runs like a well-oiled machine. In most cases, it would take several people to do everything a great practice manager does… but somehow, Cheryl does it all (and with a smile!). 😍
Not only does she handle all the behind-the-scenes magic — payroll, meetings, budgeting, and keeping our goals aligned — but she’s also a skilled veterinary technician who jumps right in to help with patient care when things get busy. 🩺🐶🐱
She’s the one making sure we have the supplies we need, that our hospital stays on track, and that our team always feels supported and heard. She’s our quiet storm — strong, steady, and always keeping things moving forward. 🌈✨
Cheryl, we are endlessly grateful for everything you do — from leading with compassion to being our biggest cheerleader and problem solver. Thank you for being the heart that keeps Alpine Animal Hospital beating strong. 💚💚💚
We truly couldn’t do it without you! 🙌

💙🐾 Meet Koa, the cutest little Schnauzer with the bluest eyes you’ve ever seen! 😍

This handsome guy came in for a recheck after recovering from something called a tibial tuberosity avulsion fracture — a fancy way of saying that the little bump on his shinbone (where his kneecap tendon attaches) had pulled away from the bone. Ouch! 😬

That type of injury usually happens when there’s a sudden twist or strong pull on the leg — and it takes lots of rest and patience to heal properly. 🦴💤

Thankfully, Koa’s amazing mom followed his strict rest plan to a T 💪 — no zoomies, no jumping, no running (which we know isn’t easy for a happy pup like him!). And guess what? It totally paid off! 🎉

At his recheck with Dr. Davis, Koa was doing fantastic! His leg had healed beautifully, so he’s now cleared to slowly get back to normal activity — with a reminder to take it easy if he starts to feel sore again.

And in true Koa fashion, he celebrated by showering Dr. Davis with kisses and showing off his cheerful spirit. 🥰🐶 We’re so proud of you, buddy!

🍪✨ Sweet Shout-Out to Nayeli! ✨🍪

If you’ve ever wondered what talent looks like, look no further than our incredible veterinary technician, Nayeli — who not only cares for our patients with skill and compassion but also bakes the most jaw-droppingly beautiful sugar cookies you’ve ever seen! 😍🐾

Her cookies aren’t just delicious — they’re edible works of art. 🎨 From perfectly smooth frosting to tiny, detailed designs that make you stop and stare (before you finally cave and take a bite), her attention to detail is absolutely off the charts.

For Veterinary Technician Week, Nayeli surprised both our Alpine Animal Hospital and our friends at Alpine Equine with custom cookie designs that were almost too pretty to eat... almost. 😉

It’s the kind of generosity and creativity that perfectly sums up who Nayeli is — dedicated, thoughtful, and always going the extra mile (or in this case, the extra sprinkle). 🥰💙

We’re so lucky to have her as part of our team — both for her heart in the hospital and her sweet magic in the kitchen!

🎉🎂 Happy Birthday to Amy! 🎂🎉

We’re sending the biggest birthday wishes to our amazing lead technician, Amy — a powerhouse of skill, compassion, and knowledge! 💪🐾

Amy’s experience goes far beyond her role as a Certified Veterinary Technician — she’s pursued advanced education in dentistry, spent years mastering emergency medicine, and is our go-to guru for anesthesia and patient care. 😷🦷 Her ability to teach, guide, and support the team (all while keeping things running smoothly) is something we’re endlessly grateful for. 💙

And of course, we can’t ignore the timing of her birthday — the day after Halloween! 🎃 The photo couldn’t be more fitting: Amy sharing a laugh and some sweet kisses from Boo, the adorable Maltipoo. 👻💋 Seems like Boo wanted to keep the Halloween spirit going with some extra treats of his own! 😉

Amy, thank you for everything you do — for your steady hands, big heart, and the wisdom you share with all of us. We hope your birthday is as special as you are! 💖🐶

🎉🐾 Happy National Cat Day! 🐾🎉

Meet Ash and Killian, two dashing brothers from the exact same litter — though you might never guess it from their opposite personalities!

You’d think Ash would be the gray one... but nope! Ash is the gray and white social butterfly who strutted into the clinic like he owned the place. 😎 He soaked up every bit of attention, rolled in catnip like it was spa day, and insisted that his exam take place on the counter (because exam tables are so last season). 🩺💅

Meanwhile, his brother Killian, the darker gray gentleman with just a hint of white, took a more “strong, silent type” approach. He wasn’t exactly looking to mingle — but even he couldn’t resist a few chin scratches and a little catnip bribery. 🌿🐾

🐱 National Cat Day isn’t just about celebrating the feline divas, cuddle bugs, and sass masters we share our homes with — it’s also a reminder that keeping up with their health is one of the best ways to show our love. Cats are experts at pretending they’re fine (even when they’re not), so those annual wellness exams help catch issues early, check dental health, and make sure everything from nutrition to weight is right on track. 💪❤️

So today, give your cat some extra love — or you know, just the exact amount they allow. 😉 Maybe toss in a little catnip, a sunny window nap, and a reminder that they run the household (because we all know they do).

🛁🐶 Meet Penny, the adorable King Charles Cavalier who recently got the fresh start she’s always deserved! 💕
Penny was adopted from the Aspen Animal Shelter by our amazing practice manager, Cheryl — but here’s the sweet twist: Cheryl adopted her for her mom, who lives out of state and recently lost her beloved pup. ❤️ Sometimes the right dog just finds you, and in this case, Penny was the one.
After adoption day, Penny came in to Alpine Animal Hospital for a well-deserved mini makeover — complete with a bath in our treatment room sink 🫧, a little trim, and a full once-over. She absolutely soaked up the attention (literally and figuratively 😄) and was a total doll through it all. Penny’s got the sweetest personality — she adores people, is full of confidence, and can make friends with just about anyone she meets. 🐾
Penny’s story is especially special because she spent most of her life as a puppy mill dog, living in a kennel and raising puppies. But those days are officially behind her! 🙌 She’s now headed into a happy retirement filled with love, snuggles, and long naps on soft blankets. And once she gets her dental cleaning, she’ll be 100% ready to rock her new forever home! 🦷💖
✨ Adoption truly changes lives — not just for the animals, but for the humans too. Our local rescues and shelters here in the valley, like the Aspen Animal Shelter and so many others, do incredible work finding forever homes for pets just like Penny. If you’re thinking about adding a furry friend to your family, consider adopting — you might just find your perfect match waiting for you! 🏡🐕

🐾💥 Sweet Luna, a 6½-year-old German Shepherd beauty, had quite the ruff day recently! She was out for a peaceful walk in front of her house, minding her own business, when an off-leash dog decided to start some drama 😬 and gave her a bite right on the face as you can see in the photo! Poor Luna ended up with some serious swelling on the side of her face that just kept getting bigger — so her dad, being the awesome dog dad that he is, brought her straight in to see us. 🐕❤️
When we took a closer look, we found a pretty significant puncture wound on the outside of her face. Upon further investigation the inside of her mouth had turned into what we call an open abscess (sounds gross because… well, it kind of is 🤢). An abscess is basically a pocket of infection under the skin that fills with pus — and when it opens, that’s actually a good thing! It means the infection is draining out instead of staying trapped inside. 💧🩺
Since Luna’s abscess was already open and draining, we treated her conservatively with antibiotics, pain meds, and anti-inflammatories to help her heal and feel like herself again. And guess what? Within a few days, the swelling went down, the infection cleared, and Luna was back to her happy, playful, tail-wagging self — probably telling her dog friends, “You should see the other guy” (even though she got the brunt of the incident). 😉🐶✨
We’re so proud of this brave girl and grateful for her dad’s quick thinking! 💪🐾
