Pork (and i) doing the boring stuff so we can do the fun stuff! We met up with his sissy Suki to do some chill hanging around each other so they could have some brain cells when it was time to actually play! Practicing calm around our fur friends will help so I can walk him in environments with dogs without being pulled to say hello to every new possible friend or barking because we're sad we cant greet!

Training takes as long as it takes. Rushing the procress only makes things takes longer. Pork reminding me of this each day. The progress is happening even if its not as fast as we humans would like! You cannot rush relationship and trust building. Learn to enjoy the process and celebrate the wins each day. It wont be long before you forget how hard you worked to get where you are as you breeze through life with your companion.

Not here for the quick fixes. Sustainable behavior change requires time and effort. It will get easier, but only if you have trust and commit to the work. Ben has been hard at work on self regulating and trusting his mom to notice when he needs help and providing functional support. Today he walked with 2 dog friends, saw several other dogs and people and you would have never guessed he was "in training". It's been amazing to watch this team grow and be trusted to guide them in the procress.

Normally 3 is a crowd in play but it was fun to watch these 3 successfully navigate play as a trio! No one was left out ...

I had alot of fun writing notes about the mistakes happening in my first outside training session with this skill for a client. In my clients session we had some mistakes we had to sort through which was new for them, having a plan or at least knowing your options for when mistakes happen is crucial! Doing nothing or barking the cue at your dog again is usually not helpful. Being a right or wrong robot will kill your dogs enthusiasm to learn. Mistakes are normal, take a breath and remember training should be fun for both of you.

They say you don't get the dog you want but the dog you need. Porkchop has been teaching me so much (mostly about myself) in the almost 3 months we've had him. I wouldn't want it any other way! Dirty stinky puppy made his 2nd friend! He has 2 friends and 3 acquaintances now. Your puppy does not need to play and romp to be socializing. Simply being around other puppy safe dogs is also very important! Porkie is learning social skills through play and calm coexistence! Porkie needs a minute to warm up to the idea of a new dog so we are sure to go his pace and make sure he feels safe each outting.

We brought home this dirty, stinky puppy last week! After a looonnngggg time waiting the time has final come where we could get our own puppy! Meet Porkchop! He is an Australian Koolie! Our hopes for him are to first be a confident, happy, stable adventure buddy, try out some herding, canicross, and learn to sniff out our tortoise for fun (and if he ever escaped his outdoor enclosure to help us find him 🤣).

Baby girl Trix is living her best life in her new home! We delivered a special package from a client and a few goodies from us this am and watching Trix rummage through and pick out her faves was the highlight of my week! A client gifted trix an embark DNA test for Christmas! We found out her results tonight! What breeds would you guess Trix to be? Swipe to the end for the answer!

Trix is still with us until her official hand off on Jan 7th! We are taking the transition nice and slow so she is comfy! Then I'll be seeing her regularly for training still as the recipient of our full scholarship 🥰
