Home Pet Rescue (HHPR) provided emergency assistance to the Maine Animal Welfare Dept and the Caribou Police Dept. over the Christmas holiday of 2024 to rescue 9 cats from the Caribou Stream Trailer Park (former Noble’s Trailer Park). HHPR volunteers working the holiday rescue were: Isaiah Belyea, Peter Ellis, Donna Huntington, Kim Plavnick, Norma Milton, Brenda Perkins, Sharon Mahoney, Cheyanne Cormier. Pictured are 2 of the rescued cats delighted to be saved but still wondering what happens next. Cats will be adoptable when medical needs are completed including spay/neuter. HHPR is a federal 501 c3 non-profit, Maine state licensed pet rescue based with an ALL volunteer workers which provides 6 spay/neuter public clinics per year with a traveling vet Dr. Stone from Community Cats in Topsham, Maine.
This lovely thank you note was received from the Maine Animal Welfare Dept. in Augusta. At this point 9 cats have been rescued and are awaiting medical care as we have to travel outside the county to get our cats help.
"Good morning,
I would like to express my gratitude to the HHPR volunteers for taking on this situation and working tirelessly to ensure that the cats are safe, warm, fed, and provided proper medical attention. This type of case is difficult for Animal Welfare to take care of because an agent is spread so thin in Aroostook County. It would fall to the municipal animal control level so we sincerely thank HHPR for stepping in."
