Vaccination, examination and a parasite protection plan are especially important in the summer even if your pet spends most of their time indoors. We know life gets hectic with summer travel plans and we don't want your pet to go unprotected. We've opened up some more appointment times to meet our clients' needs but they'll schedule quickly. Lola's family invited Dr. Sands to present to the Dog club branch of 4H. She taught the kids all about being a veterinarian and even some about dentistry. The kids were quick to learn and even got some candy for getting questions correct!

"Hyperthyroidism is a condition that causes your cat to overproduce the thyroid hormones. This condition affects many organs in the body, most noticeably the heart. Thyroid hormones cause the whole body’s metabolism to speed up, the blood flows very quickly, calories burn in excess, weight is lost, hunger and edginess is felt. The most common signs noted by cat owners are weight loss despite good appetite and restlessness. Hyperthyroidism must make a kitty feel like we would if we drank high caffeine drinks throughout the day! With hyperthyroidism the gland itself gets large (sometimes we can even feel it) but this change is usually benign. In fact only 1-2% of feline hyperthyroidism is caused by an actual cancerous tumor on the thyroid gland."

Then vs. Now! Ollie and Marissa first met this summer, and took this adorable picture together. Since then they’ve both grown (Ollie literally! and Marissa in her roles at the clinic), but they still make a cute picture!

"Psyche was always known as “temperamental” and didn’t respond well to cuddling or anything other than touches on her head. Within the past year, her “zoomies” started decreasing and she stopped jumping up on things. Additionally, she has had some asthmatic symptoms, making her overall a little miserable! When I brought her in to see Dr. Sands, she was given an extensive treatment plan addressing dental and osteoarthritis pain that was concluded as causing her “temperamental” mood! Since the treatment of all of these findings, Psyche is one month in and feeling better than ever. She is jumping, hopping on top of things, exploring more, and even cuddling! I am so excited to watch her live her best life without pain."

Ranger came in with his Valentine's Day scarf and his true love Illona! He comes once a month to manage his arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, allergies, and anxiety and he couldn’t be happier to see us!

At our last team meeting, we did a painting challenge, where after eight minutes we rotated the canvas around the table to the next part, so each canvas had a little bit of everyone's art on it. Some of them are goofy, some are pretty, but they were all fun to make!
