The answer: NONE! This is YOUR Personal Animal Experience. You are booking the time slot and it will only include the people YOU sign up. If it's only 2 people, GREAT!🎉 If your group has 6 people, GREAT!🎉 If you want to do it by yourself, GREAT! 🎉

We don't combine groups. That wouldn't be very personal, would it?

It's easy to do! Our office will email you an invoice for the experience you are looking for. Upon receipt of payment of the invoice, you will be issued a coupon code to give to your loved one.

When your loved one makes a reservation on our website, they will enter the coupon code and the cost will reflect the amount you paid on the invoice.

Our first day of Personal Animal Encounters was so much fun! We love sharing these animal experiences with people and hearing their feedback as they learn about the different species.

Often times we hear how surprised people are at how the animals feel, look, act or when we share facts about the animals. The kangaroos are so soft! The sloths are great swimmers. How crazy short the gestation period is for sugar gliders.

This is why we love Personal Animal Encounters! We love sharing knowledge and experiences with people.

Southern Lights at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington begins tonight and runs through Dec. 31. Open 5:30pm-10:00pm nightly (closed Christmas Day)
Our petting zoo will include many of our animals including new ones! Ride a camel, pick up some great stocking stuffers and gifts, and enjoy all the festivities the Park has to offer.

🦥Encounter question of the week...I want to book an encounter but I only have three people in my group. Can I add another person at a later time?

Absolutely! Just message us the name of the person joining you. We will update the ticket. If you want to add a 5th or 6th person, we can do that as well! If there is an additional charge involved to your changes, we will contact you before changes are made.

🦘Come hang out with us!🦘

Look how flexible these little girls are! Have you ever watched a joey get into a pouch? They dive in head first, do a little wiggling around and adjusting, then pop their little heads out of the pouch. Those big feet just kind of find their own place and the babies are as cozy as ever!

Truth be told....I am a little jealous of their flexibility! 🙃

When you schedule a Personal Animal Encounter, you will be able to meet and hold these sweet little gals. 🥰They are so soft! And those eyes....deep, darks pools one could get lost in! 😍This is just one of the animals you will be able to interact with during your encounter.

Just a heads up...if you are wanting to book a weekend time slot or time during the kids' winter break, just be aware that those time slots fill fast. Don't wait and miss out on this amazing personal experience.

But if you would like visit with a wider variety of those available, we are happy to accommodate that too! Our goal is to create an amazing memory for you and your group while sharing the education and love of animals. Upon arrival, your zookeeper will ask you what you are most excited to see. We will start with that and expand your visit from there.

THANK YOU to everyone that came out to WWA this season! We have wrapped up our 4th season ending with our Annual Autumn Adventure. And what a way to end the season! It warms our hearts to have a community full of local businesses that enjoy participating in our season finale. As well as to share those local businesses with you, our friends and supporters.

We are closed to the general public until April, but that doesn’t mean we stop working. Here’s what we’ll be up to this fall & winter……

Personal Animal Encounters…. The off season is when you can take advantage of our private encounters with the sloths. Baby Kangaroos, Capybara & more. They make GREAT Christmas and Birthday gifts!

Farm Stays….We have 2 beautiful guest houses here on the farm where you can gather, relax, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Southern Lights at Kentucky Horse Park….. For 28 years we have been bringing our animal to you at Southern Lights during the holidays! Beginning November 29 many of our animals will be there to love on, George & Junior, our Ships of the Desert (Dromedary camels) will be giving camel rides, and you can take a ride on our Mini Train. We plan to expand the petting zoo this year so come out and visit us! Open every evening from 5:30-10 through December 31 (closed Christmas).

And finally…..we will continue working on completing projects here on the farm. The top priority will be to have the café open by the time we open our doors in April!

Just want to share a quick Personal Animal Encounter update!

We are SO CLOSE to launching our new online ticketing platform for encounters. There are just a few tweaks we need to fix before going live. Thanks for your patience!

Just a few fun facts about the encounters:

🦘We will begin encounters on Friday, November 29th
We will be offering encounters Wed-Sun, with a few extra dates added during holiday breaks!
🦥During your encounter experience, you will be able to visit the sweet little capybara babies, hang with the sloth family, meet some adorable baby kangaroos. You may even have time to hold Cornelius!
📷Pictures and videos are encouraged!
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦If you are bringing children, we ask that they be ages 7 and up.
➡️You will have a dedicated zookeeper as your guide to answer your questions and share information about each animal.

Each encounter will last 45 minutes. Time slots, prices and more details will be available on our website in the new update.
