Plan to celebrate the holidays with a cozy farm stay here at Wendt’s Wildlife Adventure. Our park is closed for the season, but you can still stay on the farm, see the animals in the fields, and plan to visit some amazing area attractions all within a few minutes from here.

Here are some of my favorite things to do during the holidays here in Nicholas county. All within about 5 minutes from the farm.

Visit Carlisle’s historic courthouse square with its 300+ decorated memory trees. The lighting ceremony will take place Saturday, December 2 during the Christmas parade. 🌲

And a Must See is Christmas at Mustard Seed Hill. The gingerbread houses, the magnificent lights, the food & treats, the market. It’s worth the drive to experience this amazing holiday event! ⭐️

While on the farm, take a walk down to Daniel Boone’s cabin and get a feel for what a cold winter’s day must have been like in 1795.

A late evening post to give you a feel for what we’re up to at night.….

These 2 baby goats are our newest addition. Unfortunately, their mama didn’t take to them, but they are warm in the barn & warming up to taking a bottle. 🥰

And if you’re needing some snuggles with some of your favorite furry friends while we’re closed for the season, come see a few of them at Kentucky Horse Park’s Southern Lights. This is our 27th year providing animals at this Bluegrass Tradition!! Come visit Olaf & Dolly the camels, Percy the Scottish Highlander, Clifford and more. PLUS here’s your chance to continue the tradition of riding the camels, or make it a new tradition! And don’t forget to ride the train! 🚂 Kentucky Horse Park Foundation has expanded the lights on the train route this year so don’t miss it! Here’s an insider tip…to avoid the largest crowds, come during the week, come early in the evening, and come early in the season.

You asked and we are excited to announce...personal encounters at WWA are starting!

Join Mykayla, our Keeper, and some of your favorite animals here for a 45 minute personal encounter. Get up close and learn more about Chudder the capybara, the two baby 'roos or our sloth family. Interested in the reptiles? We can include those as well! Your 45 minute session will be spent interacting, feeding and touching some of our most requested animal friends.

Time slots are limited to Fridays and Saturdays at 10, 11 and 1.

Our 2023 season has come to a close.

Thank you to all of our visitors over the year! We appreciate every one of you, from those that live nearby and come several times each season, to those that visit once because they drove a long distance. This past weekend we had people from Knoxville, Louisville, Ohio & Indiana that didn’t come because they were in the area, but came just to visit our sweet animals. You are what keep us going, and you’re the reason we are able to continue to expand.

In the photo below you can see all the buildings that currently house the animals, AND you can see construction projects that are in the works. This winter we will be busy building! A new septic system is installed, and new buildings will be built. What will be ready to open by April 1 has yet to be seen, but know that next year will be even better.

ALSO, we will have a couple announcements later this week that you’ll want to keep an eye out for! And we will try to bring you some cute photos and videos to get you through the winter.

We close for the season at 5:00 today, so if you need one last animal fix come see us! Our gift shop Is open till 5 too, so if you want to pick up some gifts for the holidays now would be a great time to do that.

Just hanging out here at Wendt's! This is the LAST WEEK of our season! Make plans to come visit us one more time. We are open from 10-5 Wed-Sun.

Saturday is our Autumn Adventure and we have almost 20 businesses from Carlisle and Nicholas County ready to hand out candy and goodies to everyone! PLUS, they have some treats of their own you can purchase. Don't forget we also have food trucks and live music!

Feeling creative? We have a costume contest on Saturday as well! Winners will receive a gift certificate to our gift shop. Contest is judged at noon.

Happy International Sloth Day! We love our family of sloths and the baby is getting BIG! Come on out today and say HI to Charlie, Lola, Sunshine and the baby before we close down for the season on Sunday, Oct 29. We are open today until 5 pm! The rain is gone and it’s a perfect day to spend at the park.

Since opening, it has surprised us that the most favorite thing here is the Parakeet Encounter! Of course all the animals are loved by our visitors, but the aviary really brings a lot of joy to a lot of people Here are some pics shared by visitors Peyton Rice & Rachael Hogge.

We had a great turnout yesterday for our Season Passholder appreciation Lunch. I didn’t get many pics, but you know who you are! We greatly appreciate our zoo members & enjoyed talking with so many current members and meeting some new members for next year!

If you would like to become a 2024 Zoo Member, we’re selling passes at our 2023 prices until the end of October. So stop in to get your passes, or to buy some as gifts.

He’s a 3 year old African Spur-Thighed Tortoise. He’s getting settled in, and getting accustomed to his new home here at WWA! 🐢

What a great day to just snuggle up in a blanket! (Sunshine thinks every day is a great day for her blanket)……OR better yet, go to WWA! These cool days are the best for visiting our furry, feathered and scaled family. And come check out the hay bale art from our very own Mykayla Spurgeon.

Just like kids, these emus love to play in the water sprinkler! We keep our animal friends cool with sprinklers and frozen fruit and veggie treats. And we have some cool treats available for you too! Otterly Adorable

Did anyone guess that our newest cute and cuddly is an....OTTER? Who knew that feeding time could be so adorable? 😍 Meet Otto! He is an Asian Small-Clawed otter. Come on out and see this sweet little guy and welcome him to our zoo family! But don't forget to give baby camel Pearl some loving too! You can hear her in the video vocalizing her request for your visit. We are open from 10 am to 5 pm today.

Our brand new Parakeet Encounter is open! Come visit with 450 beautiful parakeets who are eager to interact with you. Seed sticks are available for purchase in our gift shop. Grab your camera and come visit! We are open Wednesday through Sunday from 10-5.

Breakfast!! When an African Crested Porcupine feels threatened it will raise its 12-13” quills along its head and back to make himself look more threatening. If that doesn’t work to scare off the predator, they’ll stomp their feet, click their teeth, and rattle their hollow-tipped tail quills. And if that still doesn’t deter its predator, the Porcupine will run backwards stabbing the attacker with their short thick quills on its backside. But this family of porcupines here at WWA don’t have much to worry about except for what’s on the menu for the day. Come out and visit Elvis, Priscilla & baby Prickles.
