A Lesson in Customer Service….
A while back mom ordered Propane from MFA in Lonoke, Ar. They didn’t answer the phone when we called so we left a message. We kept waiting but it never delivered. We called again last Thursday. During that call the lady that answered the phone stated, “I haven’t been checking messages lately and now we are very busy, we will get it to you this weekend.”
Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday…and we still haven’t received our propane delivery. Tuesday morning we ran out of propane. We called MFA in lonoke again, they said they were sorry but we were on the bottom of the list. Apparently it didn’t matter how long ago we ordered because since they didn’t check their messages we were at the bottom of the list.
When we woke up without heat, I went to lonoke to get electric radiator style heaters and to speak with the people at MFA. To be honest I wanted to give them a piece of my mind. However I was convicted on the drive form my anger.
I pulled out my phone and called Blue Seal in Stuttgart, Ar. They said they were almost out of propane and probably wouldn’t be able to deliver. I understood but I still asked for a Credit Application to switch my future service.
During the conversation, I was venting about why I wanted to switch to Blue Seal. I told them what happened and that I was on my way to Walmart to purchase electric heaters to keep my wife, my mom, and three kids (8,2,1yrs) warm. The lady said she would have her manager call me back.
About 15 minutes later I have a cart full of heaters at Walmart, making my way to checkout. I get a call from a man named Tom from Blue Seal Petroleum who says, “I’m on my way to fill your propane tanks, we can’t let babies get cold.”
Keep in mind, I’ve never bought anything from Blue Seal before and I’ve bought 500-800 gallons of propane annually(for 34yrs) from MFA.
I learned 3 things today:
1. My loyalty doesn’t buy good customer service.
2. God has us covered
3. My dollars will go to the company who shows compassion to my family.
Goodbye MFA lonoke, Arkansas.
