Westchester K-9 customizes all of our services to fit your specific needs to your dog. We believe in treating each dog and it's owner as an individual. After all, no two dogs are alike the same way no two people are alike. We draw from a wide range of tools and techniques to help facilitate reaching your training goals as well as vastly improving the relationship between you and your canine compan

After working with one of our certified and knowledgeable trainers, not only will you have a better behaved dog, you will also have a greater understanding of how dogs learn and perceive the world, in addition to better handling skills to help your dog in any situation. We address any and all training matters such as leash pulling/reactivity, jumping, counter surfing, housebreaking, door bolting, running away, understanding property boundaries, retrieval, puppy imprinting and of course obedience. We also have programs for dogs exhibiting behavior issues like fear, aggression, resource guarding, anxiety, hyperactivity and socialization problems.

Romeo is a Portuguese water dog who was having some aggression issues at home.
He is going home from our advanced Board and train program where his family will learn some new rules to apply. Once they learn how to communicate properly and set up Romeo for success, they will be able to enjoy him more and not be scared of the aggression.
Romeo’s friends, Cosmo and Maggie who have already graduated from our program are following along and enjoying the training too.
The foundation never leaves, so when we reinforce that training, they happily do exactly what we ask. Once you lay down some ground rules and structure, your dog will respect you and love you so much more. They thrive when they know exactly what is expected from them.

Gruff and Cosmo training together in a refresher course. Gruff is not always a fan of intact males and since Cosmo is not neutered, it makes for a perfect training duo. Having dogs run at each other at the dog park or doggie daycare is not generally a good way for dogs to work things out. It doesn’t always go how you think it should so we keep our groups small and make sure we are always in training mode. These two have already completed their foundation course and that makes it easier when we want to communicate to them. Do you want to learn to talk to your dog in a way they understand? Mornings are no longer stressful! Maggie’s board and train refresher helped her achieve an advanced level of training. Maggie has a lot of energy and felt she should be getting attention all the time. Her owners are learning how to communicate better and now their stressful mornings have become amazing. Maggie is getting to enjoy off leash hikes because we strengthened her recall and everyone is happy. They refer to her as Maggie 2.0! They also didn’t understand why Maggie was so picky about her food. Once they utilized Wk9’s magic food eating trick, she is eating all her meals at the time of feeding. Good job Maggie and Family! Keep training 🐶

We can always count on our Wk9 friends to help each other out. Kratos is a 1 year old Rottweiler with leash reactivity toward dogs and people he doesn’t know. After his board and train with us,he is learning to focus on mom and walk like a perfect gentleman on the leash. Thanks to his friends Kirby, Chewie and Babka for coming along to provide some distractions. Kratos has a great support system and mom is working hard on his training. Great job Amanda!!

Westchester k-9 is now offering GROUP CLASSES for all dogs, and all ages.

We would like to welcome families to join our group classes at our facility in Carmel NY.

Puppy level, Basic and Advanced. No past training necessary to join. Weekly pack walks will also be coming back for anyone who has already worked with us.

A lot of the times when people decide to get a dog they don’t think about the long term commitment that a dog is. They don’t think about all the time, training, expenses, etc. that go in to keeping your dog happy and healthy. However that is not the case for Bud! Bud came to us when he was just 3months old for his first board and train program! Bud is now a year and half old and has been to us for regular boarding and for training refreshers a bunch of times in between! Bud’s mom has made sure through all his successes and struggles she’s doing the right things for him! Bud is a very friendly and well trained, because after he left from staying with us his mom kept up with practicing everything we’ve taught him! It has been a wonderful experience to watch Bud grow and consistently excel with his training. From puppy basics, reactivity, to off leash training Bud has done it all! And all the effort his mom puts in shows! Just a little appreciation post for such a great owner and dog duo that we love dearly! We are here to help with all your dog needs!
