Stepping Stone Farm LLC Stepping Stone Farm is a full service equine facility located in Carmel, Maine Our lessons are extremely comparable in pricing and we teach ages from 4 up.

Stepping Stone Farm is a full service equine facility conveniently located in Carmel, Maine. Stepping Stone is owned and operated by Kris Nicola, a horsewoman of over 60 years. Kris has a strong pony club background and keeps the pony club safety standards in all of her lessons and horse work. She has worked with all different breeds of horses (and was even raised riding donkeys, mules, and someti

mes cows!) and people of all ages and cultures. Kris offers both English and Western lessons, but the main focus of Stepping Stone is eventing. We offer private and group lessons, as well as clinics with other instructors and one clinic in both spring and fall with two instructors. Stepping Stone has both an indoor and outdoor arena that is larger than standard size, access to miles of trails and there is even a cross country course less than 10 minutes away! We have several pastures and paddocks, a 22 stall barn with three tack rooms and two floors for hay storage. Stepping Stone offers full board, including grain, hay, your choice of a large or small stall, pasturing, worming, and blanketing depending on weather. We have a farrier that comes in every other week and your horse can be added to the rotation, or you can use a farrier of your own choice. Stepping Stone competes heavily, eventing all through Maine. On quiet weekends, our riders can be found doing trail rides with T.R.O.T. or traveling around the state to expose our horses and riders to various things.

A message for Rikki’s students:

From now through to March, I am going to be discontinuing regularly scheduled lessons and instead will be teaching as weather allows. I will reach out to riders and post announcements when lessons will be available!

This will alleviate my guilt on canceling due to cold, allow my horses some time to relax, and I’ll be able to get out on the ice (in our heated shack) with Aj before he heads back to work!

February seems like a great time to take a bit of a break before we get back to it in full swing ❄️

We’ll have to ask Annie for confirmation, but Bosco’s biggest accomplishment for the year may have been the moment Rory trusted him to babysit!

We want to know - what was your biggest accomplishment, or what are you most proud of, for 2024?
