Thank You Dr Covitz and Carmel Animal Hospital
Went to Guardian Veterinary Specialists ER with my cat last night at 11 as an emergency.
She couldn’t breathe.
I was told I had to pay between $4800 - $5200 in order for them to treat her and that they wouldn’t do anything less. I.e. keep her in an oxygen tent until I could get to my own veterinarian in the morning, They kept calling it “Poor medicine” to only help me get her through the night comfortably.
I had to do it all or they would not help me/ her. They were cold and hostile. The vet was condescending and communicated very poorly. Reprimanfing me and trying to scare me into agreeing to something I could t afford. Refusing to do anything except the full work up. And the tech person who brought in the estimate said It was “too late to call Admin” to see if she could just be in the oxygen tent. They were not going to lift a finger to help my poor cat struggling to breathe.
So they sent her home to suffer because I didn’t have the $4800. To spend. They could have helped but wouldn’t because of the money. It was all or nothing. There was no sense of how can I help this animal and long time client coming from this veterinarian. It was all about how much money can I get out of this pet owner?
 I have been a big supporter of Guardian. Dr. Berg did the surgery on my dog Loki, but this experience has made me think very poorly of them. It’s all about the money not the pet.
I think poor medicine is the lack of compassion they showed my poor cat. Clearly the money comes first the pet second and the distraught person trying to save their pet, well, you’re just there to be taken advantage of financially during your hour of need.
Sweet Tea made it through the night and Dr Covitz, Carmel Animal Hospital, upon hearing of her struggle told me to bring her right in about 45 minutes before they actually opened and immediately put her in their oxygen tent. 
no financial extortion during her and my emergency.
Dr Covitz is trying to evaluate and save her. Fingers crossed we will be able to bring her home to enjoy many more years of life.
 What is wrong with our country?  So many people are greedy and heartless..
