Please keep in mind of the laws regarding Service dogs and service dogs in training.
Remember you as a business owner are only allowed to ask two questions about a service dog; 1) Is that a service dog? 2) what two tasks does the dog perform?
You cannot require identification, papers, or registration for the dog or anything about the persons disability.
Businesses are required to allow access for a service dog and their handler. You can however, deny access if the dog is aggressive, out of control, or is not house broken.
Keep in mind service dogs, service dog in training, and service miniature horses are the only animals allowed public access in Illinois.
Esa, or emotional support animals do not have public access and cannot go into stores unless they are pet friendly stores.
Providing comfort is not a task. If a dog simply provides comfort they are not a service dog.
