At Sacramento Cat Hospital, we believe every pet owner should understand the importance of feline vaccines and how they protect your furry friend.
Why vaccinate? Almost all pets need vaccines to stay safe, and many areas in California require rabies vaccinations by law. Kittens, senior pets, and immunocompromised cats are especially vulnerable to diseases, so giving them the protection they need is key.

It's a hot day, and you might be tempted to share a cool treat with your feline friend, but is ice cream safe for cats?
Here's what you need to know:
Lactose Intolerance: Most adult cats are lactose intolerant. Ice cream can upset their stomachs, leading to diarrhea and discomfort.
Sugar and Fat: Ice cream contains high levels of sugar and fat, which are not healthy for cats and can contribute to obesity and other health issues.
Toxic Ingredients: Some ice creams contain chocolate, coffee, or artificial sweeteners like xylitol, which are toxic to cats.
Safer Alternatives:
- Offer a small piece of plain, unseasoned frozen meat or fish.
- Try cat-friendly frozen treats made specifically for them.
Remember, it's always best to consult with your vet before introducing any new foods to your pet's diet. Keep your kitties safe and cool with treats made just for them!

The Sacramento Cat Hospital, established in 1974, was one of the first feline-only veterinary hospitals in the nation. Weāve been providing personalized, progressive, and innovative veterinary care for more than 40 years, and weāre dedicated to offering modern technology with old-fashioned care.
Our caring team members are trained to utilize the newest behavioral information in order to emphasize feline-friendly handling techniques. Our goal is to minimize stress during your catās visit to our office, making it a pleasant experience both for you and your feline companion.
Our team includes a Diplomate certified in Feline Practice by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP). The ABVP was established in 1978 and is accredited by a special committee of the American Veterinary Medical Association to recognize excellence in clinical practice through certification of species-oriented specialists.
We're recognized as a Cat Friendly Practice by the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP). To be recognized as a Cat Friendly Practice, veterinarians and practice staff must meet specific criteria and maintain a standard of practice including the environment, equipment, handling, and treatment of cats as determined by leaders in the field of feline medicine. The practice must also have at least one āCat Advocateā on staff who helps ensure adherence to cat friendly standards.
Our veterinarians and team members treat all of our patients with love, dignity, and compassion, as if they were our own. We value the trust you show in letting us guide and mentor you through each stage of your catās life.
