October 13th - October 19th is Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week!

Vet techs are our industryโ€™s nurses. They play many roles in our hospital while working towards a common goal of high quality patient care. Our nurse team can draw blood, take x-rays, monitor anesthesia, fill prescriptions, counsel pet parents on a variety of topics to name just a FEW things. Knoll Animal Hospital (and any other hospital) would not be able to function without our nurses. They are the glue to our practice and we appreciate them so much!

Have a favorite memory or fun story with one of our Nurses?! Tell us in the comments below! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿ’Š๐Ÿ’‰

This is Tyson enjoying his snack while receiving treatment for his skin! We love to use licky mats to help distract during appointments, and as you can see, it works very well!

Are your pets food motivated? Bring them hungry and they will not be disappointed at their visits!! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿพ

Attention Knoll Animal Hospital Family, we are currently experiencing a power outage due to an accident across the street from our hospital. Due to these circumstances, we are currently closed. Our hope is to reopen for normal business hours tomorrow morning, but we will certainly keep all of you updated!

In regards to any medication pick-ups, bloodwork calls, or update calls- we will reach out to everyone as soon as we possibly can. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

We are so excited to welcome Dr. Bethany Sakowski as the newest addition to the Knoll Animal Hospital team. To get to know Dr. Sakowski, please read her bio below. We can't wait for everyone to meet her!

"Ever since Dr. Sakowski was old enough to answer the question "what do you want to be when you grow up?" the answer was always "a veterinarian". She attended every vet appointment with her parents, and after getting a tour of the clinic at the age of just five or six, Dr. Sakowski knew for certain that veterinary medicine was her calling. Having a meaningful impact on the lives of pets and their owners has been a dream come true for Dr. Sakowski!

In high school, Dr. Sakowski began shadowing at the same clinic where she received a tour as a child. That experience was the beginning of her journey. She eventually became a veterinary assistant and worked her way up to a vet technician. She also volunteered with multiple rescue groups and wildlife rehab facilities. Dr. Sakowski received her bachelorโ€™s degree in biomedical sciences from the University of South Florida and studied veterinary medicine at St. George's University.

While finishing up her final year of vet school, Dr. Sakowski saw an ad for an employment opportunity at Knoll Animal Hospital and their dedication to mentorship and fear free medicine really stood out to her. After a phone call and visit to the clinic, it truly did feel like the perfect fit. She officially joined the team in August of 2024. Clinically, Dr. Sakowski enjoys the intellectual stimulation and the reward of helping pets and their families. She also has a special interest in internal medicine, exotic-pet care, and diagnostic imaging.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Sakowski has seven pets of her own, including three dogs, and four cats. Archer is a silly pit bull who always has to be laying on a fluffy blanket. Callie is a sweet hound mix who loves car rides. Bronco (named for the car, not the football team) is a grumpy old min pin mix. Kitties Celestine Percy, Alli, and Eevee are independent but enjoy being loved, as long as itโ€™s on their terms.

Aside from animals, Dr. Sakowskiโ€™s other passion is traveling. So far, sheโ€™s been to 30+ states and five different countries. One of her fun goals in life is to visit as many national parks as she can. To date, sheโ€™s been to 14, with her favorites being Kruger (where she saw the Big Five on safari) and Yellowstone. Sheโ€™s also a huge foodie and loves trying new restaurants."

Dr. Knoll and Dr. Maas are excited to work alongside Dr. Sakowski to help even more pets. Thank you for coming with us on this new journey!

The 4th of July is quickly approaching, but what do we do when our pets may be sensitive to loud noises such as fireworks? We may be able to help! Check out these helpful tips that can not only help for the holiday, but all year round! ๐Ÿพ๐ŸŽ†

Reading Time: 2 minutes Share onThe Fourth of July is one of the busiest days of the year for animal control officers. Lost and terrified pets fill shelters. We're starting to get some more frequent questions about when we're moving and the answer is...we don't know, but definitely this summer! Don't worry- as soon as we have a tentative date, we'll: send an email, post on social media, send out a PUSH notification from our app, and even change our phone recording because moving a business can be confusing for everyone involved...so please stay tuned.

So what have we been up to since we announced that we got the keys to our "forever home" in March? We're staying busy by working with an architect, applying for permits, starting construction, moving over some lesser-used items, and getting all of our services transferred over. If you're curious about updates- feel free to check out our blog: https://knollanimalhospital.blogspot.com/ We update whenever we have a new, exciting change- which should be more frequent when we've received all of our construction permits.
