I haven't gotten a good picture of their faces yet but Dixie had her babies today! A boy and a girl I have dubbed Caramel and Butterscotch.

Once again, I was woken ridiculously early by Tootsie in labor. These 2 little guys were born at about 0458 and 0514 this morning. There were 2 other fetuses, but one was severely underdeveloped and the other was stillborn but very small. It's unfortunate but we know that's the reality of having farm animals.

We got new farm dogs today! They're still getting used to our place and all the smells but we have very high hopes for them to protect everyone 😊

Well Dixie finally had her baby! Little baby Elliott was born just about an hour ago. Farm chores were being done so we missed the actual birth, but Dixie is such a good mama to him and he's a strong nurser.

While my garden might not have turned out good (or really at all) this year, we've been able to trade eggs for fresh vegetables! Here's to a delicious summer squash skillet meal!

Cookie got 2 cookies for being with us 2 years, she got to choose them out herself and the whole shebang.

Well Beau worked his way back behind the goat house and got himself flipped around. He's totally fine, he hopped up as soon as we pulled the house out. He definitely spooked himself but he did it to himself lol. He's the only one besides Gabby who has ever attempted getting back there.

Today might be the day Dixie gives us a baby or babies! She's being very loud, pacing the pen a lot, and her tail ligaments have pretty much disappeared. She's also being way more affectionate.

We put a mirror in the mama/soon-to-be mama/doeling pen today and the results were absolutely hilarious!

Note: the mirror was removed when we went to go inside so no one could get hurt with it

Gabby got her first backyard adventure today. And she found a friend in Ollie who was patiently waiting for her to climb in his lap.

We had our first milking session after the hail storm today. Ended up with a pint and 3/4(ish)! The 3/4(ish) went straight to an ice cube tray to use for soap making.
Ive been doing research but I'm curious...What are your favorite uses for goat milk!?!

Note to self: don't leave any sort of openings in the goat pen or your friend will come to check on everyone while you're stuck at work and be freaking out cuz the baby is missing.

Also, swipe right to see a pi**ed off little face cuz I was holding her for 20-30 minutes while her mom and I took turns cleaning her dried p**p off her fur (looks like milk scours. We're gonna start milking mom to see if that helps)

I was laying in bed winding down when I heard one of the goats screaming. I went out back to see what was up because no one screams this late usually and Tootsie gave birth almost a month earlier than we'd been expecting her to! Welcome Gabby to the farm!

So the other day Thelma got attacked by Cookie. Totally out of character but we've been keeping her away from the chickens regardless. She got Thelma pretty bad and tore most of the skin off the back of her head and neck. But Thelma is a trooper and we think she's gonna make it. She's been very friendly with all of us and might be becoming a shoulder chicken.

I know it's been a while since we posted but we've been busy! Kory found a 3 legged dog wandering around one night and we kept him with us for a few days until his owners got back to town (he'd escaped after getting spooked by fireworks). Chema was the coolest dog and made great friends with Cookie and all the other animals.

We realized that Jingles the Duck was a bit lonely at our place. So we traded her with a friend of ours who had the other 2 ducks that were left out of the 4 we originally got. She's much happier and we got two in exchange!

Operation help a friend build a coop and chicken yard complete! All of the chicks we were brooding earlier this year went to live at a friends house and his set-up is finally done!

Hei Hei's vent has been cleared up for about a day now so we put her outside again. She went straight to her favorite spot in the goat house and she seems so happy.

🔊🔊🔊turn the sound up to hear our youngest singing to Hei Hei!! She's doing better. Her prolapse made us a little blind to another issue. She has vent gleet (which probably caused the prolapse). So we put her on a plain yogurt (with a teeny bit of feed) and greens diet with a little bit of ACV in her water and lots of darkness so she stops laying eggs and she's doing so much better!
