Sheba is my current house dog, and is very outgoing and doesn’t know a stranger, just like me! She loves the water, and has a retrieve instinct that won’t stop. Everyone always commented on her beautiful gold colored eyes. She is my constant companion, going everywhere with me. While another dog could never fill the hole in my heart left by my first Golden, Sable, Sheba is my best girl and I love her beyond measure.

Another great past pairing was Shasta and Scrappy. Today their daughters Sheba and Reba carry on their bloodlines here at Golden Acres. Sheba has a litter of puppies right now; they were born on October 7, 2023.🐾🦴🐶

One of my favorite pairings was Sadie and Shadow, and I kept a few of their offspring to add to my kennel. Storm has been retired, but Bailey is still an active dam, whelping a litter this past June.

By now you’ve probably noticed that most of my dogs have names that begin with the letter S. Angel was one of my exceptions. She was an excellent mama, delivering several healthy litters, and she lived to be 15 years old.🐾💖🐾

When deciding to add to the breeding stock at Golden Acres I knew I wanted a variety of coat colors, and I got two pups, a golden male named Shadow, and a light golden female named Sadie. Today, my dams Storm and Bailey are descendants of this pairing.

Sasha was a true water dog! As a puppy I can remember many times when she would toss her ball 🏀 in the toilet for the joy of fishing it out. She was often found outside “swimming” in a water trough, and was happiest when she was soaking wet! 🐾🦴💛🐾

Simba joined our family in 2006. He was from a breeder in Minerva, Ohio. I chose him because I loved his light coloring and stocky English stature. He was a cute pup, and fathered many beautiful puppies.🦴💛🦴

Sable was an Ohio born and bred Golden. I had never had a Golden Retriever before, and I learned a lot about the breed through her. She was my constant companion. She loved to go for golf cart rides, and she loved water! She was a very friendly girl and a perfect ambassador for the breed. She had her first litter of puppies in 2006.🐾💛🐾

These six Golden Retrievers were the foundation of Golden Acres AKC Golden Retrievers. My first Golden, a female named Sable, came to Golden Acres in 2004. I got her as a house dog and fell in love with the breed. Later that year I added Simba to the family and began learning about the work of breeding dogs.💛🐾

It’s been a while since I introduced myself, and since I have a lot of new followers, I thought this was a good time to do so. My name is Maryann Smith and I am the owner of 🐾Golden Acres 🐾. 💛🐾AKC Golden Retrievers🐾💛in Carrollton, Ohio. I grew up on a polled Hereford beef and then a dairy farm and have been an animal lover my whole life. Growing up I was a member of my local 4-H and FFA chapters, and showed steers, hogs, and lambs and dairy in our local fair. I am still a passionate supporter of both these organizations. My first dog was a mixed breed named Brutus. Today I live on a small farm in my hometown where my husband and I grow hay, own horses and raise Golden Retrievers.
