🎉🐾 New Year’s Pet Resolutions! 🐾🎉

As we step into the New Year, it’s a great time to set some goals to make life even better for our furry friends. Here are some pawsitive ideas to consider:

Start by swapping store-bought treats for healthier homemade options—your pets will love the extra care! Don’t forget to schedule regular vet visits to keep their health on track throughout the year.

Make time for more play and bonding, whether through longer walks, fun games, or simply extra cuddle sessions. Consider setting training goals to teach new tricks or reinforce basic commands, keeping their minds active and sharp.

And why not plan more adventures together? From hikes and dog parks to pet-friendly cafés, there are so many ways to create lasting memories.

Let’s make 2025 the best year yet for our furry companions! 🐾❤️

🎄🐾 Pet Safety Tips for the Holidays! 🐾🎄

As we deck the halls and prepare for festive celebrations, it’s important to keep our furry friends safe from potential hazards. Here are some essential tips for food, ornaments, and decorations:

1. Food Safety:
- Avoid sharing holiday treats like chocolate, onions, and grapes, which can be toxic to pets. Stick to pet-safe snacks! 🍫🚫
- Secure trash cans to prevent your pets from scavenging leftover food. 🗑️🐕

2. Ornament & Decoration Caution:
- Hang ornaments higher on the tree to prevent curious paws from swatting them down! 🎄🐾
- Use pet-safe decorations and avoid tinsel or small ornaments that could be a choking hazard. ✨⚠️

3. Holiday Plants:
- Be cautious with holiday plants like poinsettias, mistletoe, and lilies, as they can be harmful to pets. Opt for pet-safe decorations instead! 🌿🚫

4. Lights and Cords:
- Keep electrical cords and light strings out of reach to prevent chewing and potential shock hazards. 💡⚡

Let’s keep our homes joyful and safe for all family members—furry ones included! 🐾❤️

This was shared by another Veterinarian, but it rings true.
The holidays can be an especially tough time for so many, and for those of us in veterinary care, we feel it deeply. We watch your fur babies grow, and when it’s time to say goodbye, we’re right there with you—holding their paws and sharing in your grief. These moments stay with us, and we cry with you, long after you’ve gone. We still think about your animals and the silly things they did. Animals are a love like no other and we are so blessed to be able to experience unconditional love by them.

Please remember to be gentle and kind to those around you during the holidays. You never know what someone else might be going through. A little kindness goes a long way. 💙🐾

Euthanasia.⁣

The single worst decision, day, and moment in a pet parents’ life. The kind of decision that makes you question ever owning another pet, because it’s too damn hard. This inevitable moment is too painful. ⁣

“This must be the absolute worst part of your job.” I hear that almost every time.⁣

Yes. It freaking sucks. But you know what I say to that each time?⁣

Euthanasia is a gift. A way to allow our furry angels to pass with peace, without stress, and with dignity. We wouldn’t be here if I didn’t believe there was another option. And just because it’s the right decision doesn’t make it an easy one. ⁣

Remembering those words allows me the peace and calm to help you through one of the worst days of your life. That doesn’t mean I won’t cry too, or my hand won’t shake when I’m giving those final medications. But it means I can go home knowing your baby isn’t suffering anymore.⁣

That also doesn’t mean it won’t take its toll. We are veterinarians, technicians, nurses because we love our patients like their our own. A small or sometimes very large piece of our soul breaks every single time. At certain times it seems like we can’t catch a break, that the losses are coming too quickly for us to even take a breath between. “Dr. Death walking” we’ll sometimes say. ⁣

The holidays tend to be the worst part of the year for this ugly trend. Making Christmas cheer, or Thanksgiving gratitude a little stale most years. So over the next few months, please remember to be kind to all, to extend grace and patience even when you might not feel like it, and know above all that if your heart is breaking so is ours. ⁣

With love,⁣
Your Veterinarian

🌨️❄️ Tomorrow is the First Day of Winter ❄️🌞

Whether you're bundling up for snow or enjoying a warm sandy beach, the new season brings fresh opportunities for pet care! 🐾🐕🐱

🚶‍♂️ Exercise Time: With the shorter days, it’s important to keep pets active. Morning or evening walks are great — just be mindful of chilly ground surfaces and early sunsets! 🌅

🐾 Healthy & Happy: Winter wellness checkups are perfect for making sure your pets are healthy and ready to enjoy the season, no matter the weather. 🌴🌤️

💧 Hydration Matters: Cooler air can be just as dehydrating as summer heat, so make sure your pets always have access to fresh water! 🐾💧

🦶 Paw Care: The ground can get chilly, so be mindful of your pet's paws during walks. Check for any debris and keep their paws clean to avoid irritation. 🌴🐾

Let’s make this winter a safe and cozy one for our furry companions! 🐾❤️

Big news! Our very own assistant, Katie, has been accepted into Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University! She's excited to study aviation business, but who knows... she might follow in her mom's footsteps and become a pilot someday. The sky’s the limit for her!

We're so proud of her and grateful for all she does, even though she doesn’t plan to stay with us forever. The world is in her hands, and we can't wait to see where she goes next. Congrats, Katie! 🎓

✈️ Traveling with Pets This Holiday Season? 🐾

The holiday season is a time for family, and that includes our furry friends! If you’re planning to travel with your pets this Christmas, here are some helpful tips to ensure a smooth journey:

Pre-Travel Check-Up: Schedule a visit to the vet to ensure your pet is healthy and up-to-date on vaccinations. 🩺

Pack Essentials: Bring their food, bowls, leash, and any medications they may need. Don’t forget their favorite toys or blankets for comfort! 🐶❤️

Safety First: Use a secure crate or a pet seatbelt when traveling in the car. It keeps your pet safe and prevents distractions! 🚗💺

Frequent Breaks: Plan for regular stops during your journey for bathroom breaks and to let your pet stretch their legs. 🐾🌳

Pet-Friendly Accommodations: Confirm that your destination is pet-friendly, and check for any additional rules or fees. 🏨🐕

Keep Calm: Help your pet stay relaxed with familiar items and calming music or treats. A little reassurance goes a long way! 🎶🍖

Traveling with your pets can be a joyful adventure! 🐾❤️
