It's really fun to have an active puppy. It's also really nice when they learn to have an "off switch" too. You want your puppy to play, but they also need to know how to relax and chew on toys as they entertain themselves too. Part of training is helping puppies be successful with this important life skill.

This sweet girl is learning to relax and entertain herself with toys while someone is working on the computer. Part of being able to do that means that she is getting enough sleep and down time throughout the day. She has active times and down times. What great skills for a young puppy to have! Good girl!!

Are you and your dog(s) enjoying the cooler days? Time spent outside with your dog can be a great way to play and have fun together. Last night, my dog and I went for a walk to check up nearly every tree together, just in case there was a squirrel.

Working with fearful and anxious dogs can be a challenge for the families who love and care for them. There are many days when the words of Adam Lambert play in my head as I try to look through the eyes of the dog as they view the world and the often scary situations they find themselves in.

"Whataya want from me? Just don't give up. I'm working it out. Just don't give in. I won't let you down." Dogs really are special. I am thankful for all all of my amazing clients who learn to listen to their dogs. They realize it's not about control. They learn to read body language and help their dog feel safer in the process.
