The goal of Cane Rosso Rescue is to find homes for dogs who have been abandoned at shelters or whose owners who can no longer care for them. We are looking for fosters, adopters and volunteers who can help transport dogs to their homes. Donations are needed to pay for medical care and other expenses and can be made via PayPal at [email protected].

❤️‍🩹 Imagine suddenly feeling so sick and exhausted, with no appetite, no energy, and no interest in life… and finding yourself homeless in a loud, chaotic shelter where you couldn’t rest or get the care you needed to feel well again. That was what happened very quickly to our sweet boy Nike.

📞We received a call from a local shelter that Nike, a staff favorite, suddenly was declining quickly with his health. He went from healthy and playing dress up on a day out- to losing 5 lbs in 2 days with labored breathing and not eating with a 105 temperature . This was something serious and he needed more care than the shelter could provide.

Nike spent several days in the hospital and was treated for a severe upper respiratory infection and monitored closely by vets. Once they felt it was safe, he was brought to our rescue center where he continued to recover. He is now healthy and happy and ready to find his forever home with Cane Rosso Rescue.

True to both his Airedale Terrier and Schnauzer mixes, we have found he is a spirited and sometimes stubborn boy. He’s got personality for days and the cutest, scruffiest face just waiting for endless chin scratches. He’s awesome!

Time and space. Possibly the worst two words to ever hear in rescue. Those words are attached to wonderful, loving, fun and ADOPTABLE dogs every day for their euthanasia reason in shelters. Their last day of life comes down to time and space.

Sammy was a “time and space” dog and he spoke to us. We needed to let him know his life mattered and to find him a home in this world.

We didn’t realize it would be 250 days… and counting… in rescue for Sammy, who STILL needs a home! We moved mountains to save him and he deserves to live the good dog life in a home of his own.

Sammy’s story….

Sammy was on his last day of life, facing euthanasia for time and space at a shelter in San Antonio. We had seen him and the amazing volunteer notes, begging for someone to step up and be this guy’s hero. We said YES!

Then… Sammy got an adoption tag, meaning someone wanted to adopt him. Heck yeah! We loved that and were so happy for him, rescue wasn’t needed, someone had seen how great he was and chosen him.

And then….. they didn’t show up to pick him up. Never came, didn’t care, ghosted… Sammy’s life didn’t matter to them enough to actually save him.

💔Sammy was back to “time and space”. The shelter contacted us and said we had until the end of the day to get him out of there….
In San Antonio. It was 10:30am already. How much did Sammy mean to us????

Enough to drop everything we were doing for an entire day, network like crazy over texts and social media and get a friend of a friend’s cousin’s brother’s next door neighbor to go actually physically get him, transport him to a temporary home overnight, and then arrange another transport again the next day to Dallas and Cane Rosso Rescue.

Sammy has paid us back tenfold for saving him from “time and space” as his legacy. He is the most loving dog, gives hugs, loves people and other dogs, is affectionate, cuddly, smart and just a joy to be around.

He is a wonderful dog who would do anything for his people and he deserves a home to call his own.

Daisy is our sweet new GSP rescue who has found herself looking for a new home. She was purchased as a cute puppy and then she grew up. True to her GSP heritage
…. c’mon, she’s a … she was too much for her owners and they didn’t want to take the time to train heCane Rosso Rescuern.

She is now AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION through Cane Rosso Rescue.

Daisy is a 1.5 year old, 60 pound German Shorthaired Pointer. She is an extremely high energy dog. When she’s not going ninety to nothing, she loves to be snuggled up next to her person. Daisy needs an adopter that’s willing to work with her on basic commands and manners. With a little patience and training, she is going to make someone an awesome dog.

We are looking for an adopter who is willing to invest some time into training her, and she’ll repay you with endless laughs, loyalty, and maybe a little mayhem (the good kind)! She is so worth it!

⭐️ Anna is available for adoption! ⭐️

Remember that puppy who thrown from a moving vehicle, hit by a car and left to die?

That puppy is Anna and she has made a FULL recovery thanks to this awesome Cane Rosso Rescue rescue community! An injury that could have ended her life had our rescue community not donated and stood up for her did not define Anna, but only made her stronger.

🥲 We can’t imagine what would have happened if she hadn’t been found that day. What we do know is that Anna is now ready to find her home in this world and someone is going to be adopting an amazing dog!

Anna is a social butterfly who fits right in with other dogs, listens like a pro, and has all the basic commands down. She is a very good puppy, having had to learn early on about down-time with her crate rest as she recovered from two breaks in her leg. Now, she’s a 7 month old girl who knows the benefits of relaxing and enjoy a chill night at home.

🆘 FOSTER or ADOPTER NEEDED ASAP! 🆘

We need your help! Mabel needs your help.

This sweet little girl is scared out of her mind at our center and needs a home to settle and decompress in as soon as possible.

Mabel was found wandering the streets, a homeless dog that was most likely tossed aside without a second thought. She had no collar, no microchip and no owners to be found, so she is now a Cane Rosso Rescue dog.

She was brought to the center and is so, so scared with us. It’s loud there…have you heard that train right above us 🤯….dogs barking, strange people in and out…..and it’s unfamiliar and not a soft and cozy home that she deserves to live in.

This sweet girl has been through the unknown, and it’s clearly taken a toll on her spirit. She needs a safe, quiet place to decompress, where she can start to believe that people and life are good again—or at least, that they *will* be soon.

We’re searching for a foster family or adoptive family willing to give her the time, patience, and kindness she so desperately needs. In a loving environment, she can start to rebuild trust and see the world through a softer lens.

Found scared, hungry and all on their own, Riley and her littermates didn’t stand a chance against the harsh world.

🩷After coming to Cane Rosso Rescue, and seeing all her littermates find loving homes, Riley has been left wondering why she hasn’t been chosen. We want it to be Riley’s turn! She is such a great dog and, while she still has puppy moments, she’s blossomed into a full-grown amazing dog!

Riley has been in foster for several months with no interest. Zero. Nada. Nothing. She’s been to adoption events and charms everyone, wears fun Halloween costumes….but still no applications for her. She thrives in her foster home, they adore her and she’s a fun part of their household. Riley needs a home to call her own!

🥲We don’t get it, someone has to want a very good girl who has basic training down, is housetrained and would be easy to bring into a home. She really is a great dog and keeps getting overlooked!

Riley is the ultimate adventure buddy! This girl absolutely *loves* heading to breweries, joining you on runs to Home Depot, and being your go-to shopping partner. Riley’s always up for an outing, she’s super social and friendly with everyone she meets.

LOVE? Love is something money can’t buy….it’s becoming a scarce resource.

💔Our sweet senior girl Estella had no one to love her. In fact, those were supposed to…. they simply dumped her at the shelter when she got too old. Her love and loyalty was useless to whomever had her before.

There are many, many senior dogs sitting on euthanasia lists and ALL they need to make it out alive is someone to love them and think they’re still worth it. Senior dogs like Estella deserve a second chance at happiness.

💜Well, we think Estella is worth it and she’s now available for adoption! We are trying our hardest to find her a home to love her now that she’s a Cane Rosso Rescue dog.

❤️Estella is as sweet as can be. She still tries to play with the other dogs and we think she enjoys having other dogs around.

She started a cute little routine where she puts her legs up on the bed each morning to say hello to her foster mom, and leans in for ALL THE PETS.

She is housebroken and dog door trained and really just a wonderful dog. While we didn’t know if we were stepping up for a hospice case, it is very clear that Estella is looking for a home to call her own because she definitely has more time left.

Our sweet 7 month old black Labrador mix, Lucy, has found her forever home!

Once a stray living in a field, unsure where food would come from or if people would be kind to her, she’s now come full circle to living a good dog life.

Lucy has mastered snuggling, loves to be on the couch and is spoiled and loved with her new family. She doesn’t have to wonder where her next meal is coming from and she knows that she can trust humans and be loved. She has a dog sibling and they’ve bonded over squirrel patrol in the yard. 🐿️

Lucy is why we rescue. She just needed a chance to find her place in the world and deserved a chance.

‼️ Found with BB gun shots and in pain, Bobby needed help asap.

Bobby found himself on the euthanasia list at the shelter and out of time. He was in pain and came in with a wound on his paw. That wound turned out to be past neglect and being shot with a BB gun.

We do not know his full past, details are sketchy at best. What we do know is he is now a Cane Rosso Rescue dog and we are determined to change the horrible life and experiences he had before and find him a home with the love and comfort he so deserves.

Bobby sits comfortably upright on his backside because his front legs are painful— due to past neglect, including being shot with a BB gun.

Despite everything, he’s the sweetest and most charming boy in Dallas. He makes friends every where he goes. He’s had some time to heal and decompress in his foster home and he’s now ready for adoption.

Bobby is a great sleeper, walks beautifully… and slowly… on a leash, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs.

He loves to snuggle right on top of you and, while he can’t chase in real life, he even chases squirrels in his dreams!

Bobby is looking for a calm home, ideally a single story with no stairs, where he can relax and feel safe.

💔Addie’s story breaks our hearts and is one we never want to tell.💔

Five years ago, Addie was found as an abandoned stray and became a Cane Rosso Rescue dog. She was adopted into what we thought would be her forever home where she would be cherished and loved.

🥲 Turns out, we were wrong. Fast forward to a few months ago, we got the call we dreaded – Addie had been found as a stray again.

Her previous adopters never reached out to us to return her, but instead dumped her to survive on the streets for six long months as a stray. Thankfully, her microchip led her back to us.

When we contacted them, they said they’d “given her away” months ago and didn’t want her back. Many, many angry and sad tears were shed over her abandonment and poor treatment as we drove to OK to pick her up and save her once again.

💜Now, we’re trying again to find her the loving, forever home she truly deserves. We want to make sure she never has to face abandonment again. She is full of love and deserves to be the queen of the castle in her new home.

Addie is a 3-legged tripod dog and gets along great! She can get on and off couches, human beds, go for walks, all of it. Being a tripod doesn’t stop her in the least.

Addie is a fantastic pup who would thrive in many different types of homes. She is a dog who loves to snuggle on your bed and sit on the couch with you. She loves adventures, enjoys car rides, and would make an incredible companion for anyone looking for a loyal and loving friend. She is a senior girl who doesn’t require a lot besides some love and stability in her life.

Some days, our amazing fosters go to the lake for the weekend. They stop at a convenience store and leave with some snacks….and an abandoned puppy. That’s exactly what happened to poor Tucker this summer.

Tucker was seen being dumped out of a vehicle near a very busy intersection, literally shoved out and the disgusting human driving simply drove off. The store attendant repeatedly saw it all and by sheer happenstance, an amazing CRR foster pulled in moments later.

Of course she scooped him right up and he became a Cane Rosso Rescue pup that day!

Tucker is full of life and adventure, loves road trips and lake life. He is playful and friendly with other dogs and thinks chew toys are the best thing happening. He’s a GREAT puppy and he’s ready to find his forever home!

509 days. 1 year and 4 months.

Imagine what life has had to offer in that time—so much joy, love, and moments missed.

For Rusty, it’s been minimal. He’s spent every one of those days sitting at Cane Rosso Rescue, watching other dogs find homes while he remains overlooked. Not once has he been chosen.

Rusty’s biggest challenge? He needs to be the only pet in the home. We never dreamed it would cost him a life of happiness and love, that we couldn’t find ONE person or family who would want an only dog. But….here we are….509 days later…still searching.

Rusty is so much more than his one need. He’s loyal, loving, super smart and just wants a chance to be someone’s everything. Rusty deserves to know what a real home feels like. Can you help him find it?

🙏Please, we are literally begging, help us make it Rusty’s turn. He’s been waiting for far too long—there has to be someone out there who wants a great dog.

🐿️ Rusty is a GSP through and through. He is consistently on the hunt for squirrels, birds…you name it! Birds and squirrels are life for him, the moment he’s outside, that’s his mission.

💜 Rusty loves his people! He loves our kennel team and our amazing volunteers and is overjoyed when it’s time for his weekly walk.
Yes, he’s gets a walk ONCE a week. This isn’t the life for a GSP and we know it. We know there is more out there for him.

🧠Rusty is smart! He figures out food puzzles and brain games in no time. He would make an awesome agility dog or a dog to train for just about anything.

🌠Rusty had a chance to have a private barn hunt months ago and he CRUSHED it! He had a private session learning and trying to hunt, perfect for his working brain and such good enrichment, especially for a shelter dog. We were so proud of him and so happy to make him happy!

Rusty would do well in a variety of homes, on a farm or with someone who is interested in hunting, as well as with someone who simply wants a loyal companion to be by their side to go on daily walks, adventures and have fun.

Heidi’s heart is broken and she’s in need of a home to feel loved and safe. After spending over a year being loved by a wonderful family, she now finds herself homeless and back at our shelter—through no fault of her own.

💔Her adoptive parents made the heart-wrenching decision to return Heidi to Cane Rosso Rescue as a last resort after losing their jobs and now their own home, Heidi’s home. Heidi is confused, longing for the safety and warmth of a home. It’s a hard time for everyone and we will always help where we can.

Heidi’s history is mostly unknown, how she came to be at a small rural shelter in Texas, we will never know. Through rescue connections, she made it to us at Cane Rosso Rescue and of course we said YES to helping her find her forever home.

Heidi is 65lbs, spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped—ready for her forever home! She is used to living in a home and moving to a new one would be her dream!

She’s a playful and dog-friendly girl who loves to be active, whether it's playtime in the yard or long walks, where she’s a dream on a leash. She is the dog you take on errands, to Home Depot, sit on a patio with and everyone loves her…and she soaks it all in. She is all love, all day.

With only hours left to live, Cleo was saved….

But still, she has no home. For 259 days, she has patiently waited. She's watched all her friends leave, wagging their tails as they found loving forever homes.

But no one ever asks about her. She’s become a forgotten dog in an endless sea of faces in need.

She has sat and waited. And waited some more. She’s had her daily meals and people caring for her at the rescue center…. But it’s not a family, not a home. It’s a loud, noisy place that makes it hard for a dog to settle in. And yet she’s been living there… for 259 days.

This isn’t right, we want Cleo to have a real, loving, good dog life. Cleo’s life wasn’t saved just to sit at another shelter. She means so much to us and we know her people are out there.

For months, Lacy wandered the streets alone, unsure of what each day would bring. She had no one to look after her, and the world was a scary, unpredictable place. But then, a kind-hearted stranger noticed her. Day after day, this Good Samaritan fed her, watched her grow stronger, and eventually, gently brought her in from the streets.

Time sensitive, we can transport a new GSP to us in DFW tomorrow, but only with a foster or adopter in place!

‼️ We have been alerted to a young female German Shorthaired Pointer in desperate need of rescue in south TX. She only has until tomorrow to secure a spot on transport to us. Otherwise, she has to go to the shelter.

🩷Available for Adoption: Riley 🩷 Riley, a 10 month old female Shepherd mix, is back with us at CRR after being adopted a few months ago. Through no fault of her own, she found herself home alone a lot and not getting the attention she needed and deserved. Her adopters didn’t have the time for her and asked us to take her back to find a new home that could give her more of what she needs. The Details: Riley is crate trained, potty trained, walks well on leash and is good with other dogs. She loves to chase a tennis ball and play in the sprinklers and is a fun, easygoing pup who needs a new home. Riley is a bit shy at first, especially around men, but once she warms up to you, she’ll be attached at the hip. What better way to kick-off our biggest fundraising weeks of the year than with saving some puppy lives!?! 🗓️ Today starts early giving for North Texas Giving Day and we’re starting off with a litter of puppies who desperately needed our help. After being seen in a drainage ditch, their poor mama killed by a car, these helpless souls were found by a Good Samaritan in rural MS. After knowing euthanasia was their fate at their small local shelter, the finder housed them, fed them and networked them to rescue, eventually getting to us. These poor kiddos had a TWO day transport to us here @canerossorescue from MS, a huge feat that took SIX driving legs of people to complete. The puppies are SO amazing and wonderful and looking for their forever homes! We think they’re hound mixes, Plott Hound, Red Bone Coonhound, maybe some Labrador mixed in. 3 3 males 💙 2 females 🩷 When you donate to our rescue for early giving of North Texas Giving Day, you’re contributing directly to saving lives like these. Meet Pumpkin! This amazing Labrador/Heeler mix is 55 lbs, 1.5 years old, fully vaccinated, spayed and an all-around amazing girl! She’s been with CRR for 232 days and needs a home of her own! Pumpkin suffered a horrific injury that resulted in front leg amputation and she has thrived ever since her surgery! Her amazing foster nursed her back to health and we’ve been trying to find her forever home for 7 months now. From her foster: She is a snuggler. She is content lazing around, she’s potty trained, I haven’t had her in her crate much because she’s so easygoing. She wants to be in the same room as me and will follow me around. She’s cat friendly, I have a bell on my back door and she rings it when she needs to go out. Pumpkin is dog friendly and having three legs makes no difference to her. She runs, plays, gets on the couch and does all dog things with ease. Our gorgeous Brittany Spaniel mix Lucy is ready for her forever family! She is a 1.5 year old pup who is good with other dogs, current on vaccinations/all vetting, and is spayed. Lucy has blossomed in her foster home and now it’s time for her forever home. Where are our Boxer fans at?!? We’ve got a great dog for you!!!Meet Jax! Jax is a 1.5 year old male Boxer/Lab mix who is available for immediate adoption or foster!Jax was with us as a young puppy and had a severely broken leg that we were able to treat and save! He would have been euthanized in the shelter due to his injury had we not pulled him and gotten him the medical he deserved. He was adopted out and had been living a wonderful life until about a month ago. Unfortunately for Jax, through no fault of his own, he’s back with us and is now looking for his new home. Jax is dog friendly, people friendly and used to living in a house, so the rescue center is kind of hard and scary for him after being in a secure and loving home.
