The results speak for themselves... during the time these School K-9 Safety teams were deployed over the last two years there have been zero firearms related incidents in the school districts they were present in and there's been a dramatic reduction in the introduction of narcotics to the schools! Open to all military, first responders and civilians with no prerequisites. We are also approved through the State Council of Higher Education of Virginia, the State Approving Authority, and the VA to accept VA education benefits. You can then use your benefits to receive vocational training and nationally recognized certifications to become a K-9 handler and/or trainer. We have an interest free payment plan for those that do not have VA education benefits. After completion most of our graduates go on to work for private companies such as Merrills Detector Dog Services, 3DK9, LLC, Kix K-9, and others working for such groups like the NFL, NBA, TSA, and more! Some even start their own companies. We offer training beyond what other companies offer on regular odor detection. With our state of the art explosives lab, and EOD range on our premises thanks to our strategic partnership with Point One USA, our students get unparalleled training on IED recognition and home made explosives. With nearly 200 acres of training area, dozens of off site locations designed to replicate every scenario you’ll encounter in the field, a state of the art kennel facility, and our brand new Live Integrated Tactical Training Facility, AK9I™ is your solution for all things K-9. We offer classes for cargo screening, odor detection, patrol training, SWAT K-9 applications, mobile odor detection, and more. We are currently offering free housing to ALL students in our dormitories for the duration of the course. K-9 Luigi is jumping in to the weekend and doing a fantastic job in his training with the Virginia Beach Police! We can’t wait to see this boy hit the streets… I’m sure you can see he is excited to as well!

The importance of a dog with solid environmentals and confidence followed by exposure to the widest variety of settings and places possible will prepare your dog for extreme situations like this one. It’s hard to see what happens at the beginning but the leash gets caught on the walkway. Unable to get the leash untangled, our senior instructor Brad, who was handling the dog, made the decision to unhook the leash and carry the K-9 down. What you can’t see are the steps, which are steel open grate and slick. Add the sheer height of the ladder which is about 6 stories up, along with the wind, the rocking of the boat, and the noise of a very busy port, and that makes a VERY challenging setting for the dog. During our courses, Brad and our other instructors will help to build this confidence in your K-9 partner and strengthen that bond that fosters this type of trust with your dog.
