YOU FOUND A SNAKE IN YOUR CHICKEN COOP, WAS IT AFTER YOUR CHICKENS?

Snakes are not necessarily interested in the chickens themselves.
While some snakes may eat a chick or eggs, they are typically attracted to the coop because of the rodents that are drawn to the feed.

If you have a snake in your chicken coop, it's likely because there are rodents present that are feeding on the chicken feed.

To prevent snakes from entering your coop, it's important to take steps to control the rodent population.
This can include keeping feed in secure containers, sealing up any holes or cracks in the coop, and keeping the area around the coop clean and free of debris.

Remove any tall grass or debris near the coop, as these can provide hiding spots for snakes. Keep the area around the coop clean and well-maintained.
Use Snake-Proof Fencing. Install snake-proof fencing around the perimeter of the chicken coop. This type of fencing is designed to prevent snakes from slithering through or climbing over.

How are you all doing? We are so excited that this new year has begun and lots of exciting things are happening! Unfortunately, our Pahrump expo has been postponed as of now. This was not an error on our part, but we are very understanding to the accidental double bookings and are willing to continue to work with Pahrump for future dates. :) Thank you all for your understanding!

***Trigger Warning***Graphic Video*** So, I would like to share what happens if you are sold an enclosure that was not built properly. Please learn from my mistake. This was my Motley het Kahl, she was a 5 year old proven breeder. I had bought 3 enclosures, thinking I was going to upgrade 2 of my growing snakes and offer her more room. The enclosures looked amazing and I was excited that I was giving my animals larger living quarters. I spent $1275 for 3 custom built 4'x2'x2'. Little did I know one was going to be a death trap. First I placed my reticulated python in the faulty enclosure, he went from being a great eater and very active to very lethargic within a week. I thought it was just because it was a high traffic area in the living room and he had been in our bedroom. I figured he was stressed, so I switched to my boa. She had been in my living room before so I knew she would acclimate fine. A week goes by, she took a meal. She's moving around and doing well. 2 weeks, she's also becoming lethargic and started twisting. I immediately removed her and asked my boyfriend to smell te enclosure. He said it smelled like chemicals. (My sense of smell is shot from covid) I informed the builder, as to which he claimed no responsibility and tried charging a fee for a replacement. Luckily I received a refund but I lost 5 years of time, effort, love and affection I put into this animal. I was devastated, I had her since she was a yearling. And most of all, her life was lost from something I could have avoided. So please, research enclosures. Buy from a reputable source. Vision Products, Animal Plastics and Boaphile are great places to buy a quality enclosure from and the only places I will purchase from in the future.
