Madonna, now 'Sydney', was born right here in the Pubble to Momma, Chaka Khan. Jenna and John were thrilled to adopt the little nugget and she's doing great and gaining confidence every day. Sydney is enjoying lots of toys and love and goes around stealing hearts from everyone she meets ❤️

Anderson (male fawn, 4 YO) and his Momma, Gloria (7YO) were victims of a move; they were dropped at our facility as they weren't welcome at the new place. They are extremely bonded so at least they have each other! The pair is inseparable and despite their circumstances have a positive attitude and really love people and other dogs too. They are the perfect pair as Anderson is active and playful and his Mom, Gloria, is more cuddly and full of kisses--they compliment each other well. It shouldn't surprise you that although Gloria is much smaller than her son she definitely calls the shots 😉. They really are an endearing pair and we hope we can find them a fresh start. Darvin, now 'Todo', ended up in a small shelter in the desert after his owner was incarcerated. He arrived in pretty bad shape, bad skin, eyes, ears, teeth and he wasn't neutered so we had a lot of work to do but managed to get him feeling much better. After about 6 months with us Krystal came to adopt and Todo was the lucky boy; besides some separation anxiety he's settled in well. He's kept busy cuddling, taking long naps, scavenging for food and playing with his toys. Todo thinks he's protector of the house but also looks for excuses to stay in bed 😂. All in all, he's a happy boy and his new Mom adores him ❤️

Luka took on a car and fractured his mandible in multiple places and arrived in pain and he couldn't eat. Our community came together and helped us to get the best surgeon in our area to save Luka's life. He is currently living a great, pain free, normal life. During the month of December we are holding our Holiday Matching Funds Drive--every dollar you donate is doubled up to $25,000! We really need your help as the need has never been greater; unfortunately there are many injured and needy pugs coming through our doors every day who desperately need our help. Cupcake and her sister, Duchess, were brought to our Rescue when their owner died and the family could not care for them. At 11 years old they weren't in the best of health but they settled in and we started to care for them the best we could. Since they arrived about three months ago they have received tons of love ❤️ Unfortunately Cupcake developed a URI and we did everything we could to control her horrible cough. With a narrow trachea it was tough on her and ultimately it just became too much and we had to send her over the Rainbow Bridge. On the way to the vet we drove through McDonald's and Cupcake ordered a sausage McMuffin combo and happily ate it all up. She especially enjoyed the hash browns! But she was tired and ready to go so we held her, told her she was loved as she peacefully passed on. Her sister has taken it well but the best news is that in a few weeks Duchess will be in a home! Even better, until her new owners arrive she will be spoiled in a foster home! More on that later. We miss Cupcake but are honored we got to care for this beauty and love her for the time we did. RIP, sweet Cupcake, we hope you are frolicking pain free 💕🌈

Goga is one lucky pup; he was an impounded stray at a kill shelter up North and had a hard deadline of euthanasia later that day. It was horrifying to see 'awaiting euthanasia' literally written on his kennel card 😔. Thankfully, a concerned person started reaching out to rescues and ended up connecting with us. We said we would take him but needed help getting him to us and before we knew it Goga had a flight on a private plane to an airport right near us! Goga, who is only 2; can take a few steps but mostly drags around and will have to use a wheelchair due to a congenital deformity. He is such a delightful soul who certainly won't let anything slow him down; the extra effort needed to care for him is minor compared to the joy and love he will give in return. We can easily show you how to take great care of Goga; as we say often the bond you will feel with a special needs dog is like no other ❤️. Dr. Tooth (now 'Doc') and his siblings were relinquished to a shelter (see last pic); if that weren't bad enough Dr. Tooth had to sit and watch his siblings get adopted and he was left behind at the shelter 😞. A volunteer swooped him up for us and he was so appreciative; he is such a sweet old man ❤️. His mouth needed a lot of work and he also needed a neuter, which we were able to provide. After a few months hanging out with us, the Farleys, who have adopted from us before and love to take in rescues, took Doc home with them. What a lucky boy! He has fit in well and they absolutely love Doc and we are thrilled he can live out the rest of his life with plenty of sunshine, peace and love 💕

Mocha, a male, is only 3 years old but due to neglect and medication mismanagement, his body is much older. Just for now, though, because we intend to get him right! He's a very sweet boy, a bit anxious but he calms and is most happy when his human is petting and playing with him. Mocha enjoys other dogs and all around is a great dog. Hermes, now 'Stevie Ray' was sadly found as a stray and then impounded. Poor little guy is blind so we can't imagine how afraid he was out there alone. But his fortunes have changed; not only were we able to rescue him and get him the health care he needed, but Jeannette came down from Oregon and took him home to join her family! Stevie has fit in perfectly and walks about his new home confidently. He's quite the snuggler and is learning to play with toys and walk on a leash. Stevie isn't a big fan of the rain but we are confident he will adjust and carry on 💪. His new family is amazed at his resilience and capacity for love; just another example of how great a special needs dog can be ❤️

Vito v. Cabbage: Vito, the National Dog Show winner, is 2-1/2 years old. So is Cabbage! Vito is very handsome. We think Cabbage is even MORE handsome. Vito is well-refined, well-trained, and nicely-behaved. Cabbage not so much 🤣 Vito has fortune, fame and a great home, Cabbage does not. Cabbage was found as a stray, impounded, and was put on the shelter euthanasia list for showing some reactivity. Really, it was just fear as once Cabbage gets to know you, he's a big softy, just like Vito; he just needs and deserves time and patience. Can Cabbage win "Best in Show"? Probably not, but he certainly can grow into the best companion you've ever had. Phoenix, a 6-1/2 year old male, isn't trying to be rude sticking out his tongue--he can't help it! This quirky, little cutie was surrendered to us as his owner could no longer care for him; we've been working on his extremely infected ears and some skin allergies and he's looking and feeling much better these days. He's such a good boy who loves people and who gets along with other pups as well. He's great on a leash and previously lived with a cat so we know he's kitty friendly and are sure he would be a fabulous addition to amg family. How can you resist that face????

It's December! We are excited to announce that our Holiday Angels have once again put forward $25,000 for our Annual Holiday Matching Funds Drive. Our theme this year is 'Love Creates Miracles' because the love our supporters show these pugs is incredible and miracles for these dogs happen almost every day. Koukla is one of those many miracles. Shane, now 'Baloo Mor'du', was neglected by his original owner, handed over to someone else who brought him to us. He was underweight so we took a little time to fatten him up a bit before Carrie and Eric traveled all the way from TN to choose him! Unfortunately after they got home Baloo got very sick with an upper respiratory infection and it took him quite a while to heal. He couldn't even meet his doggie siblings for weeks 😔Finally he is feeling better and happy to be part of his new family ❤️

When we first met Emilio he was in a ton of pain from a badly injured eye and he was frantic. It was extremely hard to keep him calm at all but thankfully our vet was able to do surgery quickly and remove that eye. Emilio proudly proclaimed that no protective cone EVER would remain on his head, so it was a challenge to make sure he didn't bust his stitches. By some miracle we got him through and he has healed and now we get to see his true, wonderful personality ❤️. He's calmed quite a bit and got used to his lack of sight; in fact he navigates quite well in the large open area with some buddies, jumping on and off beds and avoiding most obstacles. He is full of personality and at only 4 years old has a ton of love to give and he's ready for adventure too! Let us know if you are interested in this unique, wonderful pug who deserves the very best after surviving the streets and a kill shelter. 🙏🏻

Dinner time tonight! All the kids always get excited to eat their JustFoodforDogs! We are so grateful that JFFD supplies ALL our dogs with various diets to keep our rescues happy and healthy. Almost all of these babies are not only looking for their next meal but also a home. Find them on our website pugnationla.org

This is a real tough story. Two sisters, Spruce and Evergreen, estimated at 14, were left in cages, neglected. Their owner died; we really couldn’t tell you how long it was that they were living like this but thankfully we were alerted and immediately arranged to get them. Almost every day we witness cruelty and neglect but this case is over the top. We are grateful to be able to start healing their little bodies and souls. If you are interested in fostering or adopting these precious seniors please let us know. It will be a few weeks at least as we need to get them medical care and address any issues but we are putting out feelers in advance as they deserve a warm, loving space. Thank you ❤️

Thanks to everyone who visited with us on Saturday; a fun day for all, especially the pugs! We think 4-5 pugs will go to homes as a result so look for more similar events in 2025!
