When I was feeding tonight I estimated that we had gotten at least 5 inches of rain with the amount of water I had to dump out of the buckets. It has rained more since I’ve been home as well, but clearly my guesstimation was fairly accurate.

Baby killdeer action. This is OC, original chick, as Tara has named it. I just want to cuddle it because it is so tiny and cute!

Yes I stressed the parents out but I had to check out the baby killdeer. Momma was staring me down and daddy was working it trying to get me to go after him instead.

Spring shots are happening April 7th, Monday, for those using Dr. Sue.

Tonight the pasture horses said to me, are you crazy, as I was covering them but tomorrow morning I know I’m going to hear, thank you, from them.

Morning edit: well the rain event turned into a non-rain event last night so they could’ve stayed naked

I think this is even more impressive of a picture to show how much rain we got last night. Winds always flip the canoe over and obviously it was flipped over early on because of how much water filled up in it.

All is good here. Horses faired well through the storms last night, fence lines look good. We got 4 1/2 - 5” of rain from those storms.

Killdeer nest still has the four eggs and one killdeer for sure still with the nest.

Everything is good here on the farm. Definitely wet and a few things needed to be chased down because of the winds (namely the canoe jump) but fence lines are solid and horses are good.

We are definitely wet up here. Just had one more little rain shower come through and the winds are crazy but all the horses are fine and the fence lines look good.

Plentiful hay in the pastures, ice broken, horses double blanketed for those that can/ need to be and happily turned out . The west end door is staying closed today to block the wind and protect that spigot by stall 1 but you can get in the barn through the east end or the door by the wash racks. The water is turned off to the wash racks. Bathroom and aisle spigots still work.

Here is to hoping I get the horses turned out before those let loose. Either way stalls are going to be disastrous today because they were in yesterday.
