Many of you have never met our fearless leader, Kari. She doesn't like the limelight, and is rather shy. There aren't very many photos of her, but, she is really cute. One of the girls at the clinic just happened to snap this photo of the elusive Kari. Hope you enjoy it." 😂🤣

Kari would also like to remind everyone that we still need donations to help with the Vet bills for Benson, Lenny, and Clayton. You guys are the lifeline for all of these tough cases we take in. We couldn't do it without you.

By the way - it took Kari 10 minutes to get through the door to take her costume off!

Please continue to donate so we can provide Clayton with everything he needs.

CLAYTON UPDATE:

What a sweet happy boy he is. He is going to have to remain at the clinic for several more weeks so his weight gain can be monitored and also his wounds can be checked (to ensure they aren't becoming infected) and his bandages can be changed. We are ecstatic that he is wagging his tail, coming to the front of his run to greet us, and talking to us to let us know he is happy to be safe, but we are still very aware that he is still a very sick boy. He still has crystals in his urine, heartworms, numerous deep roadrash wounds, and is 20 lbs underweight. We love him and are going to continue to fight for him and advocate for him. He's such a good boy. Please continue to donate, share his story, and pray for our handsome guy.

Lying in a ditch in excruciating pain, invaded by Blow Flies, infection, and parasites, Clayton waited for help to come. Cars came and went, either not noticing or not caring enough to stop and help him. Flies and other pests swarmed and began laying their eggs in his wounds, skin began dying and Clayton waited. We do not know how long he was lying there, but the first of his many angels arrived in the form of a mail carrier just minutes before a torrential thunderstorm. The mail carrier noticed him in the ditch and checked on him noticing he couldn’t move. She immediately called Kari who rushed to get him and bring him to Carthage Veterinary Clinic. Clayton’s angel, Kari, didn’t know what to expect, maybe a broken leg, but couldn’t imagine she would find a poor baby who had been drug along asphalt until the skin and fur on his legs, paws, and side were raw. Bone is exposed in several areas and he is in severe pain.

A thorough exam was done on Clayton and it was determined that he would need to be sedated and the dead and infected skin would need debridement. Before sedating him the clinic ran bloodwork on him and did a f***l, and H/W test. Unfortunately Clayton has Heartworms, hookworms, whipworms, and crystals in his urine. Between bloodwork and the other issues going on with him it was determined that Clayton is not healthy enough to undergo sedation and debridement of his wounds. Clayton’s angels (Carthage Vet Clinic’s Vet Techs) showed up and cleaned and wrapped his wounds. Clayton fought for who knows how long to survive his unbelievable ordeal and we are vowing to ensure that he gets healthy, can receive all of the care he needs to survive, and then receive H/W treatment and find a rescue and forever family. In order to do this we need more Clayton’s Angels to help us take care of all of his medical needs. Clayton is going to have to stay at the clinic so his dressings can be changed regularly, he can receive extensive pain management, and have regular bloodwork taken. We aren’t sure what his total vet bill will be so it will be HIGH! We are definitely going to need help. Please donate to help Clayton.
