Meet Curry, a sweet boy who has been at the shelter for 519 days. Unfortunately, he suffers from severe kennel stress, which has never improved. Poor Curry spends his days pacing and barking in his kennel. However, outside of the kennel, he transforms into the best boy. He absolutely LOVES puppies and gets along great with them. We are hoping to find a temporary foster home for Curry, so that someone might be more willing to give this wonderful boy a chance at a new life in their home. Please consider opening your heart and home to Curry, even if it's just for a little while. Please call the shelter at 417-358-6402.

We have been able to take in 8 furbabies thanks to your donations to our Save A Stray Fund. Thank you so much!!! Unfortunately, just today we have been asked to take in 19 puppies, without surrender fees. That’s $3800, and our fund is currently $1500 in the negative. We wish we could save them all, but we can’t do it without your help. Please donate if you are able, and help us bring in these 19 puppies! Thank you for supporting our shelter!!!

He is safe and warm! It was a joint effort over 2 days, that included Brittany Scherff from ERC (she came from Springfield to help us!), Chelsea Baugh (Baugh’s Paws), and our very own Crystal, Cara & Alisha! He slept in a warm kennel last night with food & water, and lots of loves. More proof that Jesus loves the furbabies!

To the person who dumped their dog a few days ago near Carthage Humane Society: Maybe you thought you had no other choice. Maybe you thought someone would take him in. Maybe you thought he would come to our door. Maybe you thought the storm wouldn’t hit. None of those things came true. Our people spent HOURS outside in the cold today, trying to earn his trust so we could get him inside where it is warm. He was frightened, hungry, and thirsty, but he has no trust for humans anymore. It is now dark and unbearable cold, and all we could do was leave a makeshift shelter on our front porch. We hope he will use it, and it will be enough.

Jarred has been with us for 425 days today. Jarred is so smart and so sweet, not too big, but not too small. He loves to play with toys, he will bring you his stuffie over and over again so you can throw it for him, he loves meeting new people and going on walks too! Unfortunately for Jarred, he has a black coat, and he does not get along with other dogs, black dogs are notoriously harder to adopt out in a shelter environment, even more so when they need to be an only dog, they often get looked over, this has definitely been the case for poor Jarred. He has a wonderful, happy demeanor, and he just enjoys being in your company. I hate to see him wasting his days here at the shelter, when he could be frolicking around, playing fetch with a family of his own. Please consider giving Jarred a chance, or even just coming to meet this distinguished little gentleman, he doesn't often get to have meet and greets and I'm sure some extra attention would do him some good.

Poor Clyde has been here 422 days. He has been here longer than almost any other animal in our shelter. Clyde is a 3 year old American Bulldog mix. We have had almost 0 interest in him during his entire stay here, I have no idea why, he is good with other dogs, good with kids, and knows several commands! Please please please come out and meet this handsome guy, he deserves to live a happy, content life, far far away from here.

SOS we desperately need puppy fosters, we have received several litters over the past 2 weeks and we hate watching these little ones grow up here at the shelter. These puppies are not yet spayed/neutered so we cannot adopt them out quite yet. But, we need people who can help teach them some manners and basic socialization skills while they are at that perfect age to absorb any and all new information about their world! Please contact the shelter asap if you think you can help, this would be approximately a 6-8 week commitment. We prefer them to go in pairs, we have a total of 22 babies needing foster homes at this time. Contact the shelter at 417-358-6402

This is Curry he is at the Carthage Humane Society!! He really is perfect. Rides perfect in a vehicle. Just sets back there and looks around. Gets along with most all dogs. And people. We aren’t sure about younger kids though . He's the sweetest boy. And he's been at the shelter far too long!!! Please if you can't adopt him. MAYBE FOSTER HIM FOR CHRISTMAS FOR A FEW DAYS !!!
