Do you need to get those horses ready for the beautiful days that are coming our way?!? Dr. Kaylee Krekel will be providing veterinary services at the Hancock County Saddle Club's annual vet day on Saturday, March 22nd beginning at 10:30 a.m. This event is open to the public for hauling in horses for coggins testing, vaccinations, and dentals. It's a rarity to catch them posing together, but Kim captured them this morning. They're a goofy pair, but they're definitely part of the crew around here. Forrest has recently celebrated his 14th birthday 🎂.

We know these cold days have our horse owners dreaming about sunshine, warmer weather, and hitting the trails or the performance arenas once spring arrives. We are right there with ya! 😉 We have started scheduling spring work appointments (which typically start in March) such as dentals, vaccinations, coggins testing, etc. Our schedule tends to fill quickly for those visits. If you'd like to get on the schedule to get your equine companions ready to go, please reach out and we'll get a time set up for you.

Our final staff member to spotlight this week is Lainey. Lainey has been with us for close to a year now. She is a high school student at Illini West, so she often works later in the afternoons and on Saturdays. Lainey often helps us send home surgery patients, cares for hospitalized patients, fills medications, answers phones, and helps keep the clinic nice and clean. Lainey takes the best care of our patients, and she is a true animal lover. She enjoys showing cattle, riding horses, and she is very active in 4-H and FFA. Lainey resides in Carthage and she has a puppy and 2 kittens. Thank you Lainey, for everything you do to help us at the clinic!

We have an introduction for you, as we've recently added a staff member here at the clinic! Maddie joined the team about a month ago, and we are so excited she did! She has several years of experience in veterinary clinics, and her background has been a great fit for our clinic. Maddie has been helping with some farm calls this fall, assisting with our surgical patients at the clinic, and has quickly learned the day to day routine here at the office. Maddie and her husband Cody reside in Basco with their beautiful girls, Lennox and Lincoln. They have several animals, including horses, dogs, cats, chickens, and a cow. Welcome Maddie!

Our next staff member spotlight is Jenna! Jenna joined our crew 3 years ago and was a perfect addition to our clinic. Jenna is truly a jack of all trades around here, but she has really been instrumental in the growth of the equine portion of our practice. Jenna assists Dr. Kaylee with most farm visits and she knows our equine clients and patients very well. She has gotten things down to a science when it comes to scheduling all of our spring work, she knows all the ins and out of submitting diagnostic tests, she handles a majority of the health papers, and she keeps everything in order on the vet truck. We love her enthusiasm and organization with everything she does at the clinic. Jenna, her husband Ryan, and their sweet little girls Kennedy and Cadence, reside in Burnside. Oliver (dog) and Keys (cat) are their beloved pets, along with their horse Dutch. Thank you Jenna, for everything you do at the clinic!

This is the week we celebrate our veterinary technicians!🐾🩺❤️
It is a role like none other, and these individuals wear so many hats on a day to day basis to keep a veterinary practice running smoothly. We'd like to do a daily introduction this week for each of our super awesome crew members here at Countryside Veterinary Care.

Kim joined our clinic staff 6 years ago. She has over 30 years of veterinary clinic experience and she shares a wealth of knowledge of the veterinary profession with us. Kim plays a HUGE role in the management of our practice. Kim manages the front office, orders supplies and handles inventory, is the master of keeping our schedule organized, and has the biggest heart for our patients. Kim and her husband Loren reside in LaHarpe with several special pets of their own, including horses, dogs, and cats. They enjoy camping and trail riding, especially on these beautiful fall weekends. Thank you Kim, for all you do here at the clinic!

It has been a fun week for many area youth at the county 4-H fair! 💚🍀 The clinic was well represented at the celebrity showmanship competition this week by Grayson Krekel (learning the ropes from our girl McKenna Merritt, seasoned veteran in the show ring). They brought home first place! Our other young employee, Lainey Sullivan, had a VERY big week at the fair with numerous accomplishments. We are proud of our crew! 🥰🎉 We know fair season is such a special time for our families showing livestock. If that's you-- soak up every moment of making these memories!
