Life has been really crazy over the last few months and I have really struggled to find enjoyment in the hobby. It had become just another chore. Yesterday, I got a chance to devote most of my day to performing some much needed maintenance on my fish room and moved lots of fish around into different tanks. Turns out, it helped a ton! I spent more time just watching the fish (and taking pictures) yesterday than I had over the last few months combined.

Side note, I’m stunned at home big the carpintis male has gotten, seemingly out of nowhere! It’s a shame he killed his female!

I got this group of Oscura heterospila, also known as the Monte Cristo cichlid, last March when they were around 1”. They’ve taken some patience, but that patience is starting to pay off. I’ve really enjoyed keeping this species and look forward to a pair forming over the next year or so.

Some shots of the grow out 120g, including some new salvini from . The first photo is a show stopping young Parachromis multifasciatus from my pair. Born right in this garage. Pretty cool.

Last photo is a different tank with a young pair of Amatitlania nanolutea (also from TUIC). This fish has been at the top of my list for years and I’m so excited to finally have them in the fish room.

I am so sad to report that this guy has passed away. It long after my move, he developed a sore on his mouth and it quickly deteriorated to popeye and several other symptoms. I did all I could to save him, but it wasn’t enough. I am absolutely crushed and not sure I’ll be posting for a while.
