Thank you to Sedgefield in the Park for a wonderful weekend, and to all the kids and parents for their teamwork and creativity. The pictures say more than words.

Thank you to Martin and Catherine Schlaeppi, Sara Steady, Elizabeth Schlaeppi Johrendt and Lauren Liles for your organizational prowess (with patience to match), and to Daisy Nichols for playing a themed song for ALL 70 Haunted Derby trips. This show provided lifetime memories for the riders because of your efforts.

On our team, we are immensely grateful to Fernando for his 4am mornings, and for celebrating each and every kid on our team, and to Ash Duda for sharing some superstar grooms whose skills extend beyond ponies to kids and costumes.

Pony Finals 2021 was a whirlwind and a fairytale. The show is always well run, but management was particularly impressive this year due to contending with lots of thunderstorms and continuing pandemic concerns. Show staff was responsive, communicative and kind.

Sophie and Pine Creek’s Apolo finished fourth overall, with a trip we will always remember! Sophie and Never Enough Sweet Dreams were 12th overall. Topping it off, Sophie earned 10 and Under ribbons and Owner-Rider ribbons on both ponies, and she was recognized for her sportsmanship too. Check out the feat of engineering that is our golf cart - it placed third!

Thank you to Pamela Lupo Duggan for making the 12 hour drive to Kentucky with only a few days notice and providing the calm, patient presence we and the ponies needed! Thanks to Kyla Makhloghi for schooling the dappled unicorn during KY Classic. Thank you to Jocelynne Miranda, Sarah Nelson and Alexandra Vernon Tart for making the week better by sharing skills and smiles!

My oh my! What a cold weekend for a horse show!
Our group had a wonderful show at Triangle Farms Indoor C show!
All of our girls had a wonderful show with many ribbons, many division prizes, many lessons learned, and so much fun!

Thank you to Katie Schaaf for her wonderful work with Lonewood Gold Rush!

I can’t wait until the next show! These girls rocked it and they were excellent barnmates to each other!!!

Duke week 1 far exceeded my dreams and hopes as a trainer. What more could I ask for from my horses and riders? They were all at the top of their game and both horse and rider were grace under pressure.
As a trainer, it’s so fulfilling to see a horse and rider achieve their dreams as a partnership. Thank you to each of the horses, the riders, and their family that supports them.

Congratulations to our wonderful Oriana kids for a fantastic Fall Outdoors Fling- C rated.

Tonkin and Carlos Aramburo jumped great yesterday placing 10th in the $50K James H. Fisher International Grand Prix. What a fun show.
Thank you Bill Zahn and Mary Thomas Zahn for trusting Tonkin to me, I had a blast showing him in this event.

Congratulations to our Ella on her lease of Loafers Lodge Iceman. Thank you Sabrina Wrightenberry Welch and Savannah for making this possible for Ella. We promise to love on him and buy him lots of 🍩.
We will always love Scotty and look forward to having him for little Ruby and Georgia Grace when it’s their turn to learn to ride. As a trainer and a parent, I can never say thank you enough to Scotty for taking such good care of Ella❤️

Tonkin being awesome in the $50K James H. Fisher International Grand Prix at Blowing Rock

Oriana would like to let you know that we have hired a new trainer and would like to welcome him to our barn family to help Kris, Lisa D, Fernando, Guillermo, Adalaid & Lisa J. A little information about him is below. More information will follow. His name is Carlos Aramburo. He grew up riding and training jumpers in Bolivia, South America. He earned multiple national championships in Bolivia in the Children, Junior, Adult and Open Divisions. In 1983 he was chosen to represent Bolivia in the Pan-American Games. He is a past head of the NCHJA Jumper Committee and member of the Board of Directors from 2005-2008. Carlos was awarded the NCHJA Sportsman of the year in 2004 and the Horseman of the year in 2005 & 2006. Carlos has successfully competed in the Hunters & Jumpers including Derbies and Grand Prix’s on the east coast for many years. He has coached kids, adults and professionals from Walk Trot to the Grand Prix level. He should be joining us by April 1st.
