The staff and Veterinarians at RHVS would like to welcome Dr. Daniel Meyer to our team! We are really excited to have Dan’s vast knowledge of veterinary medicine, his work ethic, and Dan’s wonderful personality on board with us.

I'm Dr. Dan Meyer and I grew up in Dyersville, Iowa. After attending Iowa State University for a degree in animal science, I continued on to vet school at Iowa State and graduated in 2015. I’ve been practicing veterinary medicine in the Dyersville and surrounding areas for the last 9 years. My wife, Samantha, and I own a family heritage farm outside of Dyersville with a small herd of registered Hereford cows. We have four children: Mason, Leo, Mabel, and Dottie. As a family, we enjoy working on our farm, showing cattle, and attending our children’s activities. I’m excited to serve the area and look forward to meeting new clients of Rolling Hills!

I am writing this letter with mixed emotions, Dyersville Sales Co Inc will hold it's final hay auction on July 31, 2024. It's been a great 25+ years.

Update!!! this morning we received an update from the state veterinarian:

Hello Doctors;
I have told you wrong about the fairs and CVI`s.
It is the dairy calves that do not need CVI`s going to the fairs. They will need testing done on the farm if from a lactating dairy farm.
All other dairy animals will need a CVI going to county fairs. Also testing done on bulk tank samples and up to 5 lactating cows that are held out of the tank for any reason.

Update/Changes:

-No Health Paper (CVI) is required for Dairy CALVES going to the fair. However, you will need a Negative result bulk tank test for Avian Influenza (H5N1) within 7 days leading up to the event if the calves are coming from a farm with a lactating dairy herd.

-All other Dairy Cattle WILL NEED a Health Paper/CVI as well as a negative result bulk tank sample for Avian Influenza within 7 seven days leading up to the event.

-In addition to a Health Paper/CVI any CURRENTLY LACTATING dairy cattle will need an individual negative result Avian Influenza test within 7 days leading up to the event.

Rolling Hills offices will be closing at noon on Wednesday, July 3rd for the Holiday, and we will reopen on Friday, July 5th at 8:00am.
As always, the on-call doctor will be available for emergencies.

The crew loaded 27 dogs into the boat for the first load and took them to shore. They then went back and rescued 11 more.
