We help people with dogfood so they can keep their loving pets. RUFF doesnt want to see any animal suffering for whatever reason, so our goal is to help as many as we can. We need help and are looking

for members with the same compassion that we have. If you are interested in helping us or fostering please let us know.

TRIPP UPDATE FROM DR. HUEL! She just called:
Tripp has be neutered and had a small belly button hernia repaired. He is Heartworm NEG! He was full of fleas so treated for that. Wormed and Vaccinated. He had laser therapy last night at intake and again this morning and Dr Huel said his eye is looking much better. He has many new and old bite marks...literally covered his body. He wants tons of lovin's when the vet tech take him out to potty. Michelle from Effingham Animal Shelter was taking kitties to the vet this morning and was able to visit with Tripp. She said he was so very sweet and she loved him. This boy is ready to go home. He is still at Pet Wellness Center of Southern Illinois and will be there this weekend. We are screening applications for him but there will be NO ADOPTION FEE! He is a 1 yr old pit boxer mix. As far as we can tell he is good with people and has been around cats and a dog...the one attacking him. He has been around a 5 year old child but not close interaction due to Tripp's injuries. We can schedule meet and greets with families and animals to see if he is a good fit for a family wanting to bring him into their home. I am unsure about potty training. He did potty outside for us. But his home life was not structured. He will need time and love while settling into his new home but I promise this will be the most loyal dog you will ever have because he is....a rescue:)

Always know the breeder you are dealing with and if they won't let you see the living conditions or the parents of puppies you are buying then don't deal with them. Dog breeding can be a terrible life for a dog.

UPDATE: We still have about 250 total medium and large packs left. All the small size collars are SOLD OUT.

We had the opportunity to purchase a large inventory of collars from a company that is closing its doors. These collars were made by ICON and they are great quality and we couldn't just let them go to waste when we know that there are many rescues and shelters needing collars.

So we purchased all that they had left. Though they are not Max and Neo brand, they are great quality and excellent value at $3.50 a piece.

We are offering them in bundles of 25 collars for $87.50.

COLD WEATHER ALERT! If you think that straw is ENOUGH to keep you animals warm then read this post attached to this picture! It is against the law in Illinois to leave your animals out in extreme temps....which is what we are NOW having! You can be arrested and have to go to court! For the ones that say....OH they like it outside....they don't want to come in, etc. (Trust me...rescues hear it all!) The animals would MUCH rather be inside with you! Short haired dogs will freeze to death...as the ones in the picture! Huskys, long hair-thick skinned dogs do fair better but if you want a dog then make them a part of your family or don't get them....cats too! This picture is a stark reminder and these poor dogs paid the price for heartless owners!

This morning, Donna was out checking for any cold strays who needed help and had someone with her on a ride-along. She stopped on the side of the road when she saw a doghouse, sitting in the middle of nowhere. She walked up to the doghouse, and saw straw sticking out of the front. Dread and heaviness filled her when she realized the doghouse was not empty. It hurts us to even type these words. Inside was a beautiful white dog with a collar, frozen to death. With her were newborn puppies, all also frozen to death.

Together, they lifted the entire doghouse into the jeep. They brought the whole family back to Stray Rescue so we can have them cremated and at least give them dignity in death. It's obvious the doghouse was dumped here, as it is nowhere near any houses or property. We are so sorry to give you this horrific and sickening news, but this is reality. This is why we beg people to bring their pets in during these dangerous and deadly temperatures. Even if you have to put them in your basement - do it. They will not survive in these temperatures. Please. So we don't have gut wrenching mornings like this. Doghouses and straw are NOT ENOUGH WHEN IT'S THIS COLD.

BRING YOUR PETS INSIDE. They are suffering. 💔

COURTESY POST: Meet Moose! He is a full blooded german shephard! 2 years old and neutered. He is needing a furever home. He is still a puppy at heart and needs lots of exercise to burn off his energy. Thats why his nose is skinned up...he wanted to play with a raccoon! He likes to be outdoors playing but indoors with his family as well. He has been around small children but keep his size in mind. We are taking applications for this handsome boy. Send us a message if you would like to give him a furever home. NO Adoption FEE to the right family, however we will be screening applications for the best fit.

Who remembers sweet Kimber? She was adopted by a great family! Well exciting news! you can follow Kimber on her Instagram page! https://www.instagram.com/kimbie_boxer/ Follow her to see all the antics of a sweet white boxer.

Be still my heart! This little baby girl is 9 weeks old. She is full blooded boxer! She is deaf. We are taking applications for her,but as always, it is not first come first serve. We will take her needs seriously as with any of our rescues. We want to get her settled in rescue so she won’t be available for a couple of weeks. Pm us for an application.
