Meet Nancy Curtis!

Nancy has had dogs all of her life, starting with her first dog, a mixed breed, when she was four years old. Blackie was very quick to learn and Nancy found great satisfaction in teaching her all kinds of tricks. That sense of accomplishment continued to grow through the years and eventually landed her in the world of obedience.

She met Kim in 2008, soon after Kim opened the current DSK facility. Kim was looking for someone to help her keep things running smoothly, and Nancy was looking for a trainer who could help her with her feisty, energetic Sheltie, Luke. For the next few years, she spent many hours at DSK, soaking up the knowledge that Kim was willing to share with her and others who were willing to learn. She loves watching Kim work her magic, helping handlers/dogs to achieve their highest goals, whether it be walking nicely on a leash or competing in the top National competitions.

Her two Shelties, U-CDX Fireside Never Stop Believin UD RE AX AXJ NF, "LUKE" and U-CDX MACH Blue Heavens Moonlight Ramble UD OM1 RAE MXS MJS, "CRUISER", that she started with at DSK have since crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

She currently owns three Border Collies, RNC OTCH2 RACH Norwood's Owl Love Ewe Like Crazy UDX2 OM5 RM2 RAE3 PT OA OAJ SCN SIN SEN, "STRYKER", Stryker's daughter, RACH Norwood's Ewe Make Me Quiver UD RM2 RAE2 AX AXJ OF SWN TKI, "QUIVER", and her young boy, EASY, who is Quiver's son.

Some of her memorable accomplishments are:

4th place at the 2015 Rally National Championship

3rd place in Novice at the 2016 Obedience Classic
4th place in Open at the 2017 Obedience Classic
2nd place MCOTC NOC Regional Qualifier October 2019
1st place at the 2021 Rally National Championship RACH
Perfect 200 score in Open August 2022
5th place at the 2023 Rally National Championship
First OTCH 2019 at Border Collie Nationals and went on to complete OTCH2

Meet Kim Berkley!

Kim’s journey into dog sports started 27 years ago, and over the years, she has trained a wide variety of dogs—from Great Danes and Australian Shepherds to Border Collies, Poodles, Golden Retrievers, English Springer Spaniels, and many more. Over the past three years, Kim has earned even more recognition for her incredible training skills. Three of her dogs—Zayne, Zuko, and her English Springer Spaniel, Dolly—earned Top 20 finishes at the National Obedience Championship. This is no small feat, as the competition at these prestigious events is fierce. To finish so highly demonstrates Kim's expertise, her dogs' versatility, and the depth of her training programs.

To date, Kim has won the AKC Master Classic Champion, has been the reigning Rally National Champion 3 years in a row, and then in 2024 adding Westminster Obedience champion to her list of accomplishments!! Following all of those exciting wins she has also trained 13 dogs to earn their OTCH—a monumental achievement in the world of dog sports. She is currently working toward her 14th OTCH title, a goal that is as impressive as it is ambitious! These accomplishments speak to Kim’s dedication, her deep understanding of canine behavior, and her ability to bring out the best in every dog she works with.

The DSK BC Crew had an amazing week at the 2024 BCSA Nationals!

Zuko won the Janet Larson Versatility competition, earned a HIT on Advanced B ducks, won the belt buckle for highest scoring CH on Started B Sheep, finished his HSBs, earned many agility Qs, was High Combined in rally trial two, placed in every obedience class and finished OTCH9!

Zayne was second in the Janet Larson Versatility competition, earned many placements in herding, finished his HSBs title, earned many agility Qs, won the Notch Award for the second year in a row, was High Triple and High Combined in rally trial one, was High in Trial and High Combined both days of obedience by winning every class, once with a perfect score of 200!!, earned the Highest Scoring CH in obedience, placed third in the Obedience Invitational, and finished OTCH16!!

Hype was third in the Janet Larson Versatility competition, was HIT on Advanced B ducks, got his first Started B Sheep leg, won both the Rally and Obedience Invitational events, and was awarded BCSA Rally Dog of the Year!

Zion earned RHIT on B Ducks, earned his first Started B sheep leg, and finished his Started titles on ducks! He also finished his RACH on Friday!!

Quiver was High Triple in rally trial two and earned some OTCH points in obedience with great performances!

Not pictured is Bree, who was strutting her stuff with Mark in the breed ring! Bree won Started A Ducks and got legs in both Started A and B Sheep, she got multiple agility Qs to include a QQ!, she completed her first two triple Qs and had several perfect scores including winning Rally Master in trial two! Also not pictured is baby Jay who made his show ring debut with Mark at the lead!

Zayne - many placements and Started B Sheep title!
Zaynes sons Zuko & Zion made Zayne proud winning HIT & RHIT B Ducks out of Adv and Started.

Hype, a Zayne grandson, won the Advanced B Ducks & HIT for a 4-point Major win! All of our dogs Bree, Zion, Zuko, Zayne, and Hype got Started B sheep Q’s, and Zuko and Zayne both finished titles!

🏆Zuko won High Scoring Champion out of Started B Sheep with an 86!!🏆
