Jackson County, NC was largely spared the direct hit from Helene that our neighboring counties received, with damage mostly limited to fallen trees, wind, mudslides, and flooding. Efforts are underway to restore power to Southern Jackson County, telecommunications services, provide drinkable water and assist in regional recovery efforts for harder-hit areas.
Travel is not advised at this time, as roadways should only be utilized for emergency services. If you previously made travel plans to the area, we recommend you check directly with your lodging host on their status.
