Okandogs

Okandogs IT IS ALL ABOUT CARING. In 2014, my wife, Jan and I, started trying to help Okanogan area dogs. There is no public money available at all to help out.

There are no funded Humane Societies or shelters for Okanogan County dogs. Any effort has to come from the private sector both in terms of money and effort. We have been successful in helping almost 6400 dogs so far. We have done this by rapidly responding to dogs in need and by building confidence and trust. Our successful adoption rate nears 100% through the use of carefully chosen transfer part

ners who put local area dogs first. The euthanasia rate and overall fatality rate is almost nil. As trust in us grows more people have chosen to follow us and to participate in our cause. We maintain a vet emergency fund to assist injured and ill dogs who have no other resources available. We have a program that provides free stay at home spay for mama dogs when pup litters are entrusted to us. We are a 501(c)(3) non profit organization #84-3829266 Donations to help out are critical and can be made via paypal.com/us/fundraiser/charity/3920392 or sent to Okandogs, 6820 Osprey Lane, Cashmere, WA 98815. Business bank transfers are also available

Firehouse is continuing the festivities today for their holiday weekend event. Please ask them for a copy of our Okandogs wishlist. The pups would love some new chews and training treats!

Here us little JIMMIE, the pup that was saved by Dr Colin Bonnett of Cascade Vet in Wenatchee. You may recall he was presented to the Doctor after having experienced a crushed pelvis. He is expected to make a full recovery. His rehab is taking place in the loving carecof volunteer Sandy Hansen.

Little Jimmie was found in a parking lot in Quincy a few days ago. His hip was crushed. It was a job for Cascade Vet in Wenatchee under the talented Dr. Colin Bonnett. Though the task was formidable he put little Jimmy back together again. Though he requires tender fostering, his outlook is very favorable. Another group of heroes is the Okandogs readership who donated more than $3000 to make the surgery possible. I am proud of you all.
