Time for another MEET THE BREED!

Can you guess what Winston’s breed is?

These dogs are Friendly, easygoing hounds who love company. They are snoozy by the fireside but tenacious when on the trail of the wily raccoon. They have an amazingly sensitive nose, long, velvety ears, and a sweet disposition. The coal-black coat features rich tan accents, including the distinctive 'pumpkin seeds' above keenly expressive eyes.

This guy is Winston! He has one breed in him.

created in 13th-century England. the national symbol of England. During World War II much was made of the similarities between the jowly, tenacious breed, and the jowly, tenacious Prime Minister Winston Churchill. In America, the breed is the mascot of myriad sports team, including those representing Yale University.

Meet The Breed!

This breed is a medium-sized, short-coated American dog breed recognized by the American Kennel Club, but not the United Kennel Club. The AKC describes the breed as "confident, smart and good-natured". This breed should give the impression of great strength for its size, a well put-together dog, muscular, but agile and graceful, keenly alive to its surroundings. It should be stocky, not long-legged or racy in outline. The ears should be set high on their head. The nose should always be black. Many coat colors are accepted. However, dogs with liver or black-and-tan coat, and dogs with more than 80% white are discouraged.
