Casper Humane Society We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill animal shelter. We are a non-profit, no-kill shelter in Casper, Wyoming.

We are home to more than 100 animals ranging from dogs and cats to guinea pigs, rats, reptiles, and birds. We have been a part of our community for over 65 years. As a non-profit, we do not receive any government funding and rely solely on the support of donors. Our role in the community is very important and while many people don't know the extent of our work, on any given day, we are home to mor

Not only do we provide basic care such as feeding and cleaning their living space, it is important to us that our animals receive spaying/neutering, vaccines, deworming, and microchipping, socialization, exercise, positive stimulation, training, and extensive vet care. Our time and attention is necessary to ensure our standards are met and our animals remain happy, healthy, and confident as they search for their new homes. On average, we find homes for nearly 500 animals every year. Our devotion to finding the best placement for each individual enables our ability to maintain a changing population and continue helping others in need. It is our daily goal to ensure animals that come into our care are healthy or nursed back to health and feel love and comfort during a vulnerable time in their lives, with the help of our volunteers alongside our staff, we are able to make this possible. This week's Unleashed Dog Bakery pet of the week is, Buster! As always, thank you for the delicious blueberry crumble. He loved it!

Buster is a 1 year old, mixed breed, and a new arrival at the shelter. He was unfortunately part of a hoarding situation but is ready to start a new chapter. He has exhibited his best bubbly behavior and is already stealing the hearts of those around him! He is a social butterfly, doing well with other dogs and people but we do not know how he is with cats. Buster wears a huge smile and has a lot of love to give. He is scheduled to be neutered and we hope to see him go to a loving family soon!

Good morning, friends!

Yesterday afternoon this cat was found by a kind citizen, very cold and unhappy. Today the cat is warm, fed, and safe but still unhappy.

We hope to locate an owner to get him (or possibly her) home where he belongs. If you believe this cat may belong to you, please stop by the shelter to provide proof of ownership. We will be open from 12 pm - 5 pm. 😺

Baker is a charming Tabby who chose a house and decided to make it his own. Unfortunately, the owner travels frequently for extended periods of time and felt he’d do better with a family who stayed closer to home and could give him the stable environment he’s seeking. Baker is a friendly and laid-back fellow who loves to chase strings (and anything else attached to them). He enjoys being brushed and cuddled. While he prefers the comforts of indoors, he does enjoy a good game of "bird-watching" and has been known to do a little hunting when he’s outside. Baker even came with his own luxurious kitty bed, which he adores! We estimate his age to be about 4 years, we don’t know how he does with young children, other cats or dogs. He's a personable kitty who will make a nice addition to a family that can provide him with the companionship and attention he craves.

Looking for a touch of magic in your life? We have a nice selection of fabulous black felines! We have Leon, a handsome 2 ½-year-old who thinks he’s king of the pack. Or if you're looking for a kitten to grow with, we have a litter of adorable four-month-old black kittens: Nick, Terry and Lark. These playful kitties are full of energy, loaded with personality and ready to bring sunshine to most any home.

We also have five other black felines who chose not to participate in this photo shoot but are just as excited to be adopted as the four pictured here – Sanji (Leon’s sibling), Dinah (a 1-year-old who was found under a porch with her kittens), Amren (a 9-month-old who came to us at 4 weeks of age and just won a months-long battle with ringworm), Marvin (an affectionate 3-year-old long haired stray) and Thorin (a 5 ½ -year-old best suited for more mature owners). Don't let the superstition fool you – black cats are lucky charms waiting to happen!

This sweet kitty is Tinkerbell. She's a Torti/Tabby Mix who's charming, declawed and estimated to be around 10 years old. Once a stray, Tinkerbell found a family who welcomed her in and she decided that inside with them was where she wanted to be. Unfortunately, her family is no longer able to keep her and she needs another family to call her own. She is not a fan of the outdoors and would much prefer to be an indoor kitty. She's well-behaved, active, affectionate and enjoys being pampered - but can be a bit timid at first. She is shy around other cats as well, but we think she might do okay in a home with a feline friend who's open to sharing space with her. We don't know how she feels about dogs. Tinkerbell would do best in a quiet and loving home where she can settle in and enjoy her golden years.

Delicate ears and noses can easily frostbite in these extreme temperatures. Ensure your furry friends stay safe and warm during this cold snap!

Mocha, a one-year-old Pit Bull, is a sweet girl who's looking for a loving forever home. Found as a lost dog and never claimed, she's now ready to find her way back to a happy stable home environment. Mocha has a wonderful personality - she's friendly, loving, and surprisingly obedient. While she may have some minor vision challenges (she can chase a ball but her peripheral vision seems to be limited), she's full of life and eager to please. We're still learning about her preferences for other animals and very young children, so a meet-and-greet with everyone she may be sharing a home with is a must. Mocha is ready for a committed and loving family who will give her the love and attention she craves and stick by her for the rest of her life.

Mango is a one-and-a-half-year-old Tabby/Torti Mix. She’s a sweet and curious girl with a friendly disposition. We don't know how she ended up alone, but we know she deserves a loving and forever home - and we are going to find her one. She’s an outgoing and playful kitty who enjoys being pet, watching the world from a sunny window ledge and poking around to see if there are interesting things waiting for her under the couch or on the other side of the door. We’re letting her settle in before we try to determine how she feels about sharing her space with dogs and other kitties. If you think you’re the person who can provide Mango with the love, comfort, and security she deserves, please stop by the shelter and ask for an introduction.

ADOPTED!!

Joey is a handsome 14-week-old orange Tabby. This sweet boy may be a little shy at first, but don't let his reserved demeanor fool you. It takes just a little extra TLC to lure him out of his shell. A few nibbles of cheddar cheese will quickly turn him into a playful, engaged, purring machine. Once he's comfortable, Joey is a laid-back and affectionate companion. Joey is looking for a loving and patient family who will provide him with a safe and nurturing home where he can blossom into the confident cat he's destined to be.

UPDATE: Appa has an adoption application

Appa is a 14-month-old Brittany Spaniel Mix who's got it all! This handsome devil is friendly, outgoing, and incredibly smart. He's already mastered basic obedience and is eager to show off his skills. Appa loves people of all ages, gets along well with other dogs and cats, and is always up for an outing to burn off energy and stay fit. He's a bit of a water enthusiast and has a mischievous streak (doggie toys beware!). He’s a playful pup who’s looking for an active and loving family who can share in his energetic spirit. Appa is currently available for adoption and will be ready to join his new family pack after his neuter surgery next week.

Crato is a 4 month old Mixed Breed (we don’t know what those breeds might be). He was born here at the shelter last September to a mom who was also a mixed breed mystery. This outgoing and intelligent puppy is a social butterfly who loves being the center of attention. He's a quick learner, eager to please, and gets along very well with his canine pals. Crato is looking for an active family who can provide him with the training, socialization, and playtime he needs to thrive and become an obedient and loyal companion.

UPDATE: Autumn has an adoption application

Autumn came to us last fall when her owner was no longer able to care for her. We posted her in December, but she didn’t get much attention because of the busy holidays. Now that things have calmed down we feel she deserves another post. Autumn is a wonderful Lab Mix who proves that age is just a number! She may have a few grey hairs, but they’re just a testament to the wisdom she’s gathered in her 8 years. Her love for life, walks, cuddles and belly rubs remains strong. She's a friendly, affectionate soul who still has plenty of playful spirit. While we know she's good with most dogs and kids, we’re not sure how she does with cats. Autumn needs a patient and understanding family who can shower her with love and provide her with the extra TLC an older gal deserves.

✨ADOPTED!!✨ Champ is a 3 1/2-year-old, German Wirehair Pointer and does well with other large dogs. We don't quite understand how anyone could let him slide under their radar. The level of cool that radiates from this humble and loving boy brings so much happiness to everyone around him. Puppies, puppies, puppies!

Here's some puppy madness to brighten your day! We currently have two separate litters that are in need of loving homes, both being between 8 and 12 weeks old. All puppies will be current on their 2nd combination vaccine, bordetella/kennel cough vaccine, and dewormer. We will require a vet history upon adoption. Gingerbread - 2 year old Torti

Gingerbread was a stray who kept returning to the same house over and over seeking food and attention. The family couldn't find her owner and she was brought to us. She's a shy girl who keeps to herself and doesn't approach people when they enter the room she shares with other kitties. As you can see, she doesn't mind being pet and is receptive to the friendship being offered. Gingerbread is about 2 years old and would do best in a quiet home where she will be given plenty of time to settle in. If you would like to meet Gingerbread, please call us to schedule a time.
