On tonight's episode of, "Wow that's the cutest little heart-shaped nose I've ever seen", say hello to Mikey! He's a 5 year old Chihuahua mix, we suspect a little terrier is hiding in there as well. He came to us all the way from Texas for a second chance at life and we will make sure that's exactly what he gets! He is a friendly and outgoing dog who we guarantee will greet you with the biggest and most welcoming grin. He adores his belly rubs and will roll and crawl around your legs as long as he needs to receive the affection he desires. He's currently part of a small dog trio and may enjoy having a little canine companionship but if there's one thing we're certain about, he has strong opinions about cats and would do best in a home without them. 🐾

Mikey is a kind and happy soul who deserves a stable and loving family of his own! If you are interested in meeting this charming little guy, stop by the shelter any time during our open hours! 12 pm - 5 pm, Tuesday - Saturday.

Sq**rt is a 1 1/2-year-old Border Collie Mix. She's a very, very happy and outgoing girl who likes everybody and is quick to make friends. She does well with people of all ages, most dogs and even some cats. She knows her sit command and, given how incredibly smart she is, will learn more commands in a heartbeat. She's active, spunky and exhibits a lot of puppy behaviors. She needs calm, consistent training and lots of space to run. However, she is not really suited to ranch or farm life because she likes chasing chickens and horses. She loves toys and her favorite thing to do is destroy stuffed toys in record time. Sq**rt is a great girl who would do best with a family who will provide her space to run, play with her and give her the time and attention she needs to be a well-behaved, loyal and obedient pet.

Luna is a sweet 2-year-old who had to find a new home when it was learned that her family’s newborn was allergic to her. This happy girl is very people-oriented, loving attention from everyone, young and old. She's had positive experiences with dogs and might be comfortable in a home with a cat-friendly canine companion. While Luna tolerates the company of other cats, she prefers to be the center of attention and can be a bit territorial when it comes to her space. She’s a petite package of personality who’s playful, curious, and always up for an adventure.

Skeeter is a curious and outgoing 4 year old gray Tabby. This friendly fellow was abandoned but the rejection has not deterred him and he is diligently looking for his forever home. He loves to explore and interact with his feline friends here at the shelter. He’s a social feline who enjoys human company and is always up for a little playtime. While we haven’t tested him with dogs, he seems to get along well with other cats and would probably be comfortable sharing a home with another kitty.

This striking little Husky is Cheyenne. She's about 7 months old and came to us when her owner could no longer provide the proper time she deserves. Typically, the Huskies we receive tend to be outspoken with over-the-top energy but surprisingly, Cheyenne has demonstrated a mild personality, especially for her age. She knows her basic commands and is very attentive to those around her. She has done well meeting people of all ages but it is common for this breed to be particular about their boundaries and respectful children are a must. Cheyenne has also been meeting some of the other dogs in the shelter and enjoys the company of a playmate who keeps her on her toes and displays affection. 🐾

Our charming friend, Willie, is looking more handsome than ever (if you can believe it) after his recent groom with Dog Grooming! We pulled Willie from Metro in July and his haircut was all over the place. We were unsure if his previous owner attempted to shave him and gave up mid-way through but we felt it was necessary to even out his full body bowl cut and hope the best for his undercoat. Regardless, nothing could ever damper his irresistible eyes and expression. 🥰 Willie has such a radiant personality and you can't help but fall in love with the welcome howl he greets you with, every single time.

Willie is still available for adoption and waiting patiently for a loving family! If you’re willing to give this good boy a chance, stop by any time during our open hours to visit him!

Friendly update on our sweet friend, Abu. He is fully healed, living life as his best self, and ready to find a loving home! If you've followed Abu's story, you know it's been a long but admirable one of strength. Not only has Abu persevered through physical hardship and human error, but he's learned to quickly manage the world and enjoy every bit of it after a difficult operation and loss of his front leg. So far, he is keeping up well with his playmates in the big yards, enjoying daily walks, playing with his favorite toys (rags if you can believe it), and still holds the same gentle demeanor we all know and love. Abu would do best in a home without small animals but does wonderful with most other medium/large dogs and will make a charming family companion. He's not a huge fan of people putting their faces in his face (who is? 😝) and may prefer the company of children who know to respect boundaries. All in all, this wonder dog will light up your home and provide a unique love that will be once in a lifetime.

August is a busy month for anniversaries here at the Casper Humane Society.
This month we will celebrate four anniversaries and 37 years of combined shelter experience. Today is my turn!

15 Years....
More than 10,000 animals.....
Amazing friends, coworkers, volunteers & donors....

The shelter has grown and changed a lot in the last 15 years. And, so have I!

The Casper Humane Society has been so much more than a job. I have seen some sad & terrible things over the years. People can be cruel. But, the animals have taught me some very important lessons.

They taught me to forgive (even when the other person doesn't ask for it or deserve it), to try and enjoy every moment, to trust (even though I have been hurt) and to ALWAYS, ALWAYS roll in the grass when you get the chance!

Today, in honor of my 15th Anniversary please walk a dog or pet a cat. Please make a donation to your favorite charity or give some of your precious time to a good friend.

Hi friends! We're a little late on posting this gem but last week's Unleashed Dog Bakery pet of the week was Toby! As you can tell, he was thrilled to be there and enjoy a tasty treat from this special establishment.

Toby has been with us for a few weeks now and we hope someone will stop by soon to give this bubbly personality the chance he deserves. He's mature, active, playful, and respectful. Toby does well with people of all ages and we know he will fit in nicely with any family as long as they ensure he receives proper exercise and attention! He does well with most other big dogs and may enjoy having an upbeat playmate to keep up with. Stop by the shelter any time during our open hours to have your heart won over by our sweet Toby! 🐾

Syd was found enjoying the summer sun in a local backyard. It was obvious she wasn't meant for a life outdoors and was brought to us when her owner could not be found. She was lucky to be rescued and is now looking for a safe indoor home and loving family. She’s an active girl who needs a spacious area to bounce and play. We estimate her age to be about 1 year and it’s unknown if she’s ever been around other animals. Syd's unique hairstyle makes her extra adorable, but it's her playful personality that will truly win you over.

ADOPTED!!!

Flareon is an outgoing 5-month-old Terrier Mix who recently arrived from an overcrowded Texas shelter. He’s a playful pup with tons of energy and a very curious nature. He's friendly, attentive and affectionate but doesn’t care much for the camera. (However, all it took to convince him to pose and look cute were a couple pieces of cheddar cheese.) Flareon is still very much a puppy and will require a lot of love, training and attention. With the right guidance, he'll become a loyal and loving companion.

UPDATE: Cleo has an adoption application!

Cleo is a spunky four-month-old Tabby/Calico Mix. She’s a little dynamo who came to us when she was just five days old and has blossomed into a playful and energetic kitten. Cleo loves to explore and is always on the lookout for new adventures. She’s a social butterfly who enjoys interacting with people and playing with kitty toys. If you're looking for a kitten full of life and personality, Cleo is most likely the feline for you.

UPDATE: Trix and Cheerio are adopted! Pebbles and Puffs have an adoption application! Flakes is still available.

Cheerio, Flakes, Pebbles, Puffs and Trix were found behind a dumpster and brought to the shelter when they were not quite 2 weeks old. One of our staff members took them in and fostered them until they were able to eat kitten gruel. As you can see, they thrived and grew to be happy, healthy little kittens. They are super cute and spend hours playing and entertaining themselves. They are now 8 weeks old and ready for adoption. If you're interested in adding a kitten to your home, please stop by and take a look at these little darlings.

Ezra is a 2-year-old Tabby/Calico Mix who came to the shelter last March with her kittens. They ended up in quarantine for a few months while they battled ringworm (and they won the battle we’re proud to say). She was a dedicated mom who's now ready to find her own happily ever after. Ezra is a laid-back girl who enjoys a quiet environment. She's done well with other cats here at the shelter and had experience with feline-friendly dogs at her previous home. She’s calm, quiet, easy-going and comfortable with people approaching her for gentle pets and calm talk.

We were fortunate to have another special delivery by Is My CoPilot, Inc. recently! A group of small dogs were transported from an overcrowded Texas shelter to our facility, where they are guaranteed a safe environment until they find homes here. They are all doing well and ready for adoption.

Noodles (L) and Roscoe (R) are four-year-old Chihuahuas who came to the shelter because their owner could no longer care for them. Noodles is a spayed female and Roscoe is a neutered male. They are active, outgoing and funny. They get along well and have a very strong bond. Therefore, we’re asking they be adopted together. They’re great with people of all ages, but have a special soft spot for adults. They love going on adventures and particularly enjoy car rides and leisurely walks. They're well-behaved and will bring endless joy to the family who adopts them.

ADOPTED!!!

Lemon is a stunning 2-year-old with a fantastic personality. When she first arrived here, she was a little shy and preferred to hide away - squeezing into the teeniest, tiniest, tightest spots where she couldn't be seen. But in just a couple of weeks she's transformed into a confident, outgoing and friendly girl. Lemon loves to explore and is always curious about her surroundings. She's a playful and affectionate girl who enjoys human company and will approach most anyone for attention. She's also great with other cats and loves to socialize with them. We're still learning about Lemon's likes and dislikes and we don't know how she feels about dogs.

This sweet, petite, one-year-old is a true superhero! Bazooka came to us as a stray and amazed us all by giving birth to a healthy litter of kittens and being one of the best cat moms ever. She cared for her own kittens like a pro and even adopted a couple of extra ones that had been abandoned long before they had been weaned! She was attentive and loving and treated them as though they were her very own. Bazooka is a gentle soul with a playful, outgoing personality. She’s comfortable approaching people and does rather well with other cats. We’re not sure how she feels about dogs.

Toby is an 8-year-old Australian Shepherd and he's looking for a special someone to help him shed some pounds and rediscover his playful spirit. He’s a gentle soul who enjoys people of all ages. He’s also a happy, smart and loyal companion who will form a strong bond with his human. While he does get along with some dogs, he hasn't been around cats and might do best in a feline-free home. To help Toby reach his ideal weight, he’ll need a patient and understanding owner who is committed to a gradual exercise plan and a healthy diet. Short walks, play time in water and gentle play sessions during the cooler parts of the day are a great starting point.

If you are willing to commit to helping Toby get down to a healthy weight and be a committed companion to him, please stop by the shelter to meet him. Our hours are noon - 5 pm, Tuesday - Saturday.

Our friends at BoomTown Baggers Co****le Club hosted the tournament and proudly presented the proceeds to us this afternoon. The funds will help us pay for medical care for the animals in our facility for the next few months! ❤🐱

Abu - our very special adoptable tri-pawed - finds co****le to be quite fascinating. He's really enjoying the 2nd Annual Bags & Brews Tournament!
