We have not repopulated Castaic Animal Care Center. Our dogs are still at Lancaster. Poor Soldier was struggling at Castaic and then went through the crazy evacuation. He is still RESCUE ONLY due to his fearful behavior. RESCUE NEEDED to pull him so he can get to a calm environment.


My name is SOLDIER and I’m approximately 2 years old male golden retr. I have been at the Lancaster Animal Care Center since January 22, 2025.

🚫RESCUE ONLY🚫high anxiety, fearful. FAS 5, unable to remove from Kennel, afraid of leash. PLEASE SHARE AND PLEDGE FOR RESCUE

Soldier came in as a stray. He is very scared and nervous at the shelter and needs a go slow approach. He has shown to get along with other dogs in the play yard but because of his handling sensitivity he will be designated as RESCUE ONLY at this time.

❤️❤️Castaic Animal Care Center is fully evacuated for those who have been asking and worried. Dogs and small animals are on their way to Lancaster Shelter and pigs and horses have gone to Pierce College.❤️❤️

Max, is a sweet, playful dog looking for a loving forever home. He is listed as an Australian Shepherd mix who weighs 68 pounds and is 1 year, 9 months old. He’s great with cats and children, thriving on playtime and affection. His previous owner shared that their favorite thing about Max was how much he loves playing with kids and how caring he is toward them. 🥰 Max knows basic commands, walks well on a leash, and is eager to please. I love the new year. A chance for new beginnings. A time to set goals and push forward with joy. The first week with all these fires has been the worst start to this year. While our property has not been in the line of any of 5 fires around us, we have been on fire watch for days. And....before the gates of hell opened on Los Angeles, we rescued this awesome almost 10 year old boxer mix who was past his 72 hour notice and could have been killed at anytime. So meet Cardamom, aka MO from the castaic shelter. We had our eye on him and wanted to pull him, yet we were having trouble finding a foster. After two fosters backed out, we found the perfect foster. it’s someone who actually knew mo before he was owner surrendered to the shelter.He was so excited to get mo and is going to give him the best of the rest of his life. We can’t do this without your help. Foster, volunteer, donate and/or share our posts. This beauty is Tootsie , a 2 year old, 60 lb. Pittie female with stunning, expressive eyes!She's a bit shy at first but warms up to gentle people.Volunteers describe her as a sweet, quiet gentle soul. Has low energy and walks nicely on leash. She passed her evaluation with other large dogs but preferred the company of calm dogs.(Tolerated but was nervous around the higher energy dogs) Shelter is requiring calm dogs. Tall, Dark and Handsome! Ozzie, , is listed as a 5 year old, 90 pound German Shepherd mix. Ozzie seems to have beginning obedience and leash skills. Ozzie would love a home with a yard as he likes to play fetch and spent 100% of his time in the yard. His owner described him as loyal and a good watch dog. Ozzie was surrendered because he nipped at (no contact) owner’s granddaughter. Due to his in-home behavior staff are recommending an adult home and no other dogs required due to playgroup behavior.
