AquaPurr

The AquaPurr gives your cat fresh clean running water with no filters, no batteries, no cleaning. The only fountain you never clean. No electricity is required.

Many cats prefer, even demand, to drink running water rather than drink from a bowl. The conventional solution is an electric drinking fountain where a reservoir of water is recirculated to flow out a spout at the top to produce that running water. The problem with this solution is the maintenance. In a week or so the combination of dust, dirt and saliva forces the owner to replace the water and t

o disassemble, clean, and reassemble the unit. For even the best designed drinking fountain, this is a cumbersome and unpleasant task. And, of course, this solution requires electricity full time. To avoid using an electric powered drinking fountain, many cat owners opt to simply leave a trickle of water running from a sink or tub faucet. This is an unfortunate solution, given the wasted water. For those very stubborn cats, and the more environmentally friendly cat owners who turn the faucet off at night, the problem escalates to the cat waking up the owner at night demanding the faucet be turned on. The AquaPurr elegantly solves all these problems. The AquaPurr is connected to the aerator of a faucet with a diverter valve, which allows the faucet to be used normally or to supply water to the AquaPurr, switching between the two different uses with a ¼ turn valve. When the cat steps on the AquaPurr, their weight opens a flow valve located on the bottom of the AquaPurr. That valve supplies water to the AquaPurr spigot for the cat to drink from. When the cat steps off the AquaPurr, the water flow stops. I designed the AquaPurr myself and built it in my own workshop.

Our Story

The only fountain you never clean.

Cats want fresh water and the conventional solution of a recirculating fountain does not deliver. Recirculating fountains quickly get dirty and slimy so once a week you have to dismantle the whole thing and clean out that slime. The problem is that the slime is also inside the water pump. So as soon as you put fresh water in the fountain and turn it on again, that pump is spreading the slime all through the fresh water. The AquaPurr never needs cleaning. The AquaPurr is connected to the aerator of a faucet with a diverter valve, which allows the faucet to be used normally or to supply water to the AquaPurr, switching between the two different uses with a ¼ turn valve. When the cat stands next to the AquaPurr they trigger a motion sensor which starts the flow of water out the spigot. 15 seconds after they leave the water turns off.
