Lots of confidence progression in just 10 minutes! Luna wasn’t very confident that she could “place” on the plywood in Lowe’s, but after working her through it and showing her she can do it she was jumping up there no problem.
Dunkin graduated our 3 week e collar board and train today. We can’t wait to see you all in support!
Leo and Blaze (respectively) working on heeling and recall with Lead Trainer Chloe! Doing so good in their Board & Train 21 Program! Can’t wait to see how good they are on Graduation Day! 🤗

Why are some dogs so afraid of the crate when they first start training?
Delta had a hard time at first getting used to the crate. The first week I had to force her into it. She would put up quite a good fight, but as time went on it got easier and easier.
Sometimes with my fearful dogs I have to force them to do things I know they can do. This builds confidence in the dog because you’re showing them they can do things that are scary to them.
For crate training, standing at the crate and throwing treats in just won’t cut it for my more fearful cases. Why are some dogs so afraid of the crate when they first start training? Fear of the unknown. People have this too. Not being certain about something is scary! How do I fix this with my fear cases? Making them do it, plus consistency and trust.
Delta knows my routine and it’s the same every day. She knows that she’s going to be let out of her crate at 6am every morning when I get up. She also knows she will be fed in her crate after her morning potty break and before her nightly potty break. Getting in the crate now is so easy for her and she thoroughly enjoys being in there now because she can trust that I’m coming back and when I do she knows our interactions are always fun. I still think crate games may be effective in some cases, but I truly believe consistency and trust is what’s going to make a real difference.
