Pet Diabetes Awareness 🐾🩺

Did you know? November is Pet Diabetes Awareness Month!
Pets are more likely to develop diabetes if they’re overweight, older, or have a genetic predisposition. Here are some important facts to keep your furry friends healthy:

🔹 Diabetes in pets is more common than you think, affecting 1 in every 300 dogs and 1 in every 230 cats.
🔹 Common Symptoms: increased thirst, frequent urination, weight loss despite a good appetite, and lethargy.
🔹 With proper management, including insulin therapy, a healthy diet, & regular vet visits, diabetic pets can lead happy lives.

If you notice any of the common symptoms above, schedule a check-up with your vet right away!

Brooklyn Veterinary Clinic is proud to announce that we are officially a Cat Friendly Practice. After working toward this prestigious certification, we were awarded with the Gold standard designation from the Feline Veterinary Medical Association.

We have implemented many new feline friendly processes to our hospital standard operating procedures to make your kitty’s visit is less stressful. We have also added additional feline-specific training for our team members to ensure our team stays ahead of the curve when it comes to excellence in feline medicine. You may have already noticed our feline-only waiting area and our two feline-only exam rooms. Our Cat Advocate team, including Dr. Emily Rognrud and several of our wonderful technicians, assistants, and patient care coordinators, are here to answer any questions you have about your cat’s medical, behavioral, or emotional needs.
