Feeding Raw doesn’t have to be complicated!

In this episode of The Alternative Dog Moms podcast, Erin and I had the absolute honor of speaking with Dr. Ian Billinghurst and Rob Ryan of Gussy's Gut and the Billinghurst Institute.

Regarding raw feeding, there are many paths to feeding our dogs a healthy diet. Over the years, raw feeding has become complicated, and people have changed from focusing on feeding fresh food to feeding a "complete and balanced" diet, adopting a term created by the marketing departments of dog food companies.

While I believe feeding a nutritious diet to our dogs is essential, I don't think it's necessary to use spreadsheets, count calories, invest in software, or seek the guidance of a canine nutritionist unless (1) someone wants to go this route, or (2) a dog has special nutritional needs that can't be addressed with "balance over time."

In this discussion with Dr Billinghurst and Rob Ryan, we were treated to a common sense approach to raw feeding, which will be addressed in the DIY Raw Feeding course I will take through the Billinghurst Institute.

We don't have to agree on how to feed our dogs to agree that feeding fresh food (even a partial diet of fresh food) offers many benefits for our dogs.
