The storms have soaked us through and through and while it’s frustrating to be washed out of our outdoor arenas, cross country course and trails and have even taken on water in our covered arena, I am so grateful for our facility’s all-weather turnouts and well maintained property. Our horses enjoyed playing around and a little grazing during a break in the rain yesterday. 😊

Martini is a 15.3 hand thoroughbred looking for his next person. Evented extensively on the east coast with placings in recognized BN events. Competed BN and schooled up to prelim. Three solid gaits, schooling 1st level dressage, and flying changes. Everything he can do with a bridle he can do without (watch his YouTube Video)!! Very sweet with excellent ground manners. Clips, stands for farrier/vet, and loads easily. Has lived on the east coast his entire life but recently moved with his owner to CA where he is currently located. Owner had to return to the East Coast for personal reasons and Martini remains in Castro Valley, CA. Selling because the owner is leaving for school in the summer and is unable to take him. UTD on vaccines, dental, and coggins.

He started his riding career as a steeple chaser and then moved onto track racing. Right off the track he went to a large eventing barn that restarted him and used him in intermediate/advanced lessons. From there he has been with his current owner ever since, eventing on the East Coast and undergoing extensive training with Advantage Horsemanship.

Martini definitely prefers a rider who uses light contact but also helps put him into position. He frames up nicely but needs the rider to tell him what they want and then leave him alone when he answers correctly. So I would recommend a dynamic, and light rider for him. He is amateur friendly, been there/done that, trail rides, travels well, mellow personality.

I am seeking a dependable working student for a growing jumper lesson and training program to support daily work at the barn in exchange for lessons and the opportunity to learn about training and bringing along green horses and natural horsemanship and therapeutic skills like acupressure and myofacial therapy.

The position is open to an energetic person with good horse handling skills, riding skills, and a dedication to learning.
Knowledge of grooming, feeding, tacking up, and basic horse care in addition to good communication skills and reliable transportation are important.

Sundays are essential, weekday afternoons and evenings are most helpful.

Tasks include putting boots on and taking them off and picking out hooves after taking horses to turn-outs, tacking up horses, cleaning tack daily, organizing and keeping tack room clean, prepping for lessons, lunging, ground-work, and riding. No STALL CLEANING.

For a working student who shows the ability to teach beginner lessons, I will pay you to teach.

I am focused on training sport horses for jumping and eventing, restarting off-track thoroughbreds to support a non-profit horse rescue operation, and sharing the love of riding with students passionate about horsemanship on all levels.

Introducing Paprika Red (Papi)! 15 year old Off Track Thoroughbred, became a broodmare directly after track career (raced until 9 years old!), currently in training from Hope for Horses through Collins Equestrian under saddle 2.5 months and shows great potential. Not spooky, no vices, enjoys trail rides with or without other horses. My 12 year old rock-star student, Sarah, has started riding her for lessons and they get along great! We've done a few cross-rails and she's working on her arena canter transitions, but has lovely gates, forward and willing to learn. Available for re-homing or within our lesson program soon. We've made a move for growth! Collins Equestrian is now happily established at a beautiful, expansive facility: Rancho De Los Amigos on Cull Canyon Road in Castro Valley. Our horses are settled into cozy big stalls surrounded by grassy hills and glorious trees with a full sized dressage court, jumping arena, large lit covered arena and covered round-pen, cross country course, tons of turn-outs and miles of trails! Come visit Jewel, Paprika, WithNail, Wholehearted and Brew at our new home. We're feeling very welcome and enjoying a great community of horsemanship with fellow trainers and riders. Stalls now available for incoming horses in training, spread the word and come share in our happy new home!
